Personally I'd rather an S2000 over the Boxter - more character...

Id take the Esprit over both though!!!! and indeed we all did!!

Would rather walk than own Boxter or Honda.

Know someone with a Boxter :P

I advised him to sell it and get an Elise :P

He said no :P

He is one of the worst racing drivers I have had the displeasure of working with :D

Not running him next year (thank god) hes a right to55er :P

i despise honda/acura cars, mostly because the trendy youth culture built around it. lots of boxsters in my neighbourhood. i've driven quite a few. they aren't as fun as the elise, but they make up for it by being refined and comfortable. i've never liked the porsche body shapes though. they just released the coupe version of the boxster.

i would also take the s2000 over the boxster for character and value, but i expect most of us chose the esprit for character- tons of it and exclusivity- it's a rare car and a small club we have here and as for looks the g's have it hands down- don't want a softened more rounded less edgy lotus- i'd like too have the resources to drop the v8 twin turbo into a g model lotus....as for those of us with limited means $$$or euros or pounds....the closest i could get to a power boat would be to go to dicks sorting goods ( a yank company) buy a canoe with a squared off back and slap a 25-50 hp mercury or other manufacturer engine on the back of it!) i'm just a working stiff with good and expensive tastes...in the past my current car for sale is a 99" saab se turbo with 53k on it and all the comforts and yes in your face red with a black interior- all the creature comforts of driving....my car before that was a 1992 lexus sc 400- a used purchase or dr. hand me down car which i owned for 7.5 years- i loved that car and even as an automatic that broad powerband and torque at any speed was intoxicating and it was comfortable for gobbling up the highway miles, but i got it used at 67k and drove it to 172k...i might still have it except for my wife driving it one morning too work- she takes sleeping meds. and being drowsy, but overly concerned about caffeine leading to benign fibrocystic breast tumors drove it that morning to work....less than alert and not a regular coffee drinker less than a half mile from our home she called me at lunch and told me she had hit a guardrail and may have bumped the side of the car a "little bit"- i went to the site of her hitting the guard riail a little bit and determined from her initial impact with the guardrail that she was hugged by the guardrail to keep the car through the turn and her initial impact to the end of the impact was approximately 180 feet/60 yards/55 meters- when she arrived home that night my lexus sc 400 looked as if a maniac had taken a large can opener to it and had opened up the car and gutted it from the front headlight to the rear lights on the passenger side- my wife couldn't even say she was sorry. i had the car fixed and sold it at a loss. it would never have been the same.... women drivers and ambien don't mix...

??? for the forum are the lotus elise car's viewed as a true "lotus" since they have a lotus body and suspension, but a japan transplanted engine from a celica gt? sorry to read in this months "hemmings sports and exotics" about the demise of the lotus esprit line and the substitute for it a variation of the elise not exactly- open cockpit car called the lotus circuit car with the toyota 190 hp celica engine and only a 100 units are to be built each year- is a lotus with a lotus engine a thing of the past? long live the esprit and a true lotus!!! :D)

ps dinner with ringo starr and barbara bach i would have given uo my honda interceptor for that, BUT not my lotus- you have nice friends....

i'm not sure about keeping the lotus at this time...it might attract too much of the wrong kind of attention (ie. police)....i have been stopped 3 times in 12 days of ownership by kentucky's finest ( police...yeah who have never seen anything more sphisticated than a souped up mustang or camaro....2 of the police gave me a friendly warning for doing 59 mph in a 55 mph zone and doing 49 in a 45 mph zone- both admitted they had never seen a LOTUS and wanted to see one up close and talk about it, the third officer wants and did give me a ticket for doing 42 mph in a 35 mph zone- he is adamant about hanging a speeder in a lotus on his belt- like american indians scalped the pioneers....i've nevr had a ticket or stop on my motorcycles which are much faster and easier to reach high speeds in 20 years of riding...i mat have to forego the lotus insurance and $$$ wise and llok at a more androgenous car like the s2000....i hope it doesn't come to that....
