One small thing ... airbag light is on after a flat battery .... is there anyway to reset it without a trip to Lotus dealer??

Also ... don't know if this is correct place to ask .... what are best tyres for winter and what is the consensus on the best option for normal road tyres?? Cost v longevity v performance?

You’ve bought yourself a great car. Saj did lots of things to turn an already great car into an awesome car. ISTR that the next owner(s) were planning on turning it into a dedicated track car. Maybe their plans changed?

re the airbag - @Bruss is your man. He managed to track down a scanner which connect to, and clear the light, for the airbag module. See here:

re winter tyres - are you looking for a set of dedicated winter tyres for the 19/20” wheels? Or have you got a second set of wheels?

Thanks Jonny,

Yes a great car and bodywork much better than expected after life on track ... but it did have a front respray so virtually nothing to see or pick fault at.

Was looking at dedicated winter set (19/20) but may try and brave it out over winter with current CupSports (not ideal) used in the better weather days only.

Yes last owners did a few track days but they have McLaren (lucky people!) & M3 for that and so this did not get used.

Do you know where I can purchase new set of whatsits for between by legs ..... it is so awesome and soooo fast 😆

I do still fancy the barge boards and big wing on mine. 🤔

If you find somewhere to get them from let me know, I'd be interested in some barge boards too.

Lotus Silverstone took a set of the black aluminium ones off mine when they sold it for me due to the guy who bought it not wanting them. I told them to keep them & sell on if they wanted since I couldn’t be bothered to collect them. You could ask if they still have them.

That was done at Protek. The best by far in the whole of Scotland and used by main dealers for Lambo etc.

I came into this world screaming and covered in someone elses blood. I'll probably leave it in the same way.

If you want to drive the car ‘properly’ during the winter, only a dedicated set of UHP winter tyres will do. The Continentals are the best:

If it’s cold and/or wet, the Cups can be like ‘driving tea trays on ice’. Just ask @bosshog😂

This is common problem and unless you have access to the device in previous post, it does require a trip to a dealer. When the car starts up the airbag system checks the system voltage. If it fails the test too often it triggers the light and it will not reset itself. The Evora really needs the full beans to start it, so if you leave the car any length of time it needs to be on a proper battery conditioner.

Thanks Jonny, looks like I will be having lots of cups of tea then.

If I ask @bosshog will he get upset? ... is there a story behind that one ?

@gregs24 Thanks ... with such an obvious fault for many people one would have thought that Lotus could have come up with a fix by now!! I have a trickle charger on order.

There was me thinking I could just get in and drive it . apppears lots of little things to learn. On that subject is there a link to setting up the bluetooth phone connection? My android phone appears to find the Pioneer but then does not want to pair for some odd reason .. any polite suggestions?

@C8RHK .... sorry tried the option you suggested but was too uncomfortable, too slow and I got wet in the rain ☹️

So what have I done? ... I went ahead and bought an Evora anyway.. Yep the red one that was Saj's old car. I knew Evoras were good but this is just amazing 😆😆 😮. Probably wrong time of year to enjoy it but hope it will still be there come Spring.

P.S. Fixed grin permanently in place.

Looks great, and appears to be lower. Do you happen to know which coil overs it’s running? How does it ride?

My vote is for PS4-S tyres. Not sure about winter tyres though.

@DBG Nitron 46 IIRC

More harsh than standard but they are adjustable so not tried that yet.

PS4-S tyres seem to be at top of most people's lists so will probably go for them next time unless I suddenly get track fever.😏

Awesome Mick, they’re the coilovers that I’m considering! Had Nitrons on my Elise and they were fantastic, definitely no where near as compliant on the Elise as the Evora Bilstein though. Be interested to hear how the adjustment goes if you get to this.

Cheers

Ben

Plenty seem to get on fine on track with the PS4-S tyres. Certainly up here in Haggisland they seem to be the prefered tyre for the boys and girls who road and track

Part of the issue here though is the colder, often damper tarmac that make the Cup2's feel like they are solid tyres with no grip.

Lots of cars do the same thing with the airbag and a low battery, not just Lotus. In fact there are very few companies that make airbags and their modules as you find out when there is a recall. Just Google Takata !

What battery does your car have ? If it is a Varta blue check the date on it - if it is original I would replace it as they only last about 3 or 4 years and when they fail they go without warning even when kept on a trickle charger. I know from painful experience - mine went when I stopped for fuel !  Varta Silver (which is only a fraction more expensive) is much better

I'm not sure which spring rates Saj had put on that car, but my Nitrons run Rear -10, Front -14 for road use. PS4 tyres. Sublime ride and direct steering. I believe Saj took my geo to try when he had the car.

@gregs24 Thanks for the tip, I will try and check it out. Can't believe that about the fuel stop .... thought it would have given notice of failure and certainly be ok after a drive ... scary.

@Bruss Was told that they are on 10/16 so maybe me just being a big girls blouse after the more 'normal' transport.

@C8RKH PS4S it will be then once I change. Unless anyone knows of a significantly cheaper tyre that is just as good in all respects.

Happy motoring,

M.

Sorry about all the Q's but....

Going along and suddenly get 3 VERY loud beeps then again after a minute or two. Cannot see anything amiss? Later it will stop but perhaps come back again yet later. Cannot work out the trigger or where it comes from.

Happens under speed limits (not that I wouold go over!!), in town, on motorway so not pinned down to what is the cause?

Anyone have any idea what is causing them and how to turn them off?? Are they from the Pioneer audio unit / satnav ?

Anything showing on the dash ?

Not that I saw.... apart from airbag light and passenger airbag off.

Just a thought.

Is the handbrake fully down?

Thought so but does not come up far; will try putting it on when going along to see if that does it.

Thanks for the thoughts .. so I assume it is not something that everyone has at times?

There isn’t one. The PS4S is currently the best UHP summer tyre on the market. And they’re not a bad price really.
