505H has arrived from California

Engines have been known to move and people have proposed engine stay designs in the past. If you drop the engine/gearbox out the bottom you can just leave that connected and undo it from the chassis? Then worry about it when it's out.

That's true, I wasn't sure how well the bracket would drop out of the chassis. I'll give it a go tomorrow. Cheers.

The engine mount design seems totally wrong for this configuration, I'll change it to a better design to stop it moving. Someone had installed chains around the engine mounts and chassis as a safety net haha.

Project is coming along well. If you are going to rebuild the engine yourself read my Turbo blog. It could end in disaster if you don't check some things that aren’t in the manual. Its easy once you know them. The engine killers are….

1. necking in the oil pick up pick - prevents a proper seal so oil won't suck up correctly.

2. oil pump and pressure relief valve. Remove the PRV and inspect it. Run the oil pump using a drill and measure the output. Compare with the figures on my blog. Replace the annulus and rotor if its not performing..

3. Cylinder head gasket. Use the correct method for torquing studs. This depends on the type of stud your using. Read the gasket spec for liner nip and make sure the nip is correct.

Follow the instructions in the manual with the above and you will save a lot of time and money.
