Kimbers 1,794
So I just put my Lotus away in the garage. It hasn’t been used for a month but I started it and ran it for half an hour a week ago. It was smooth as a baby’s butt ticking over, like always. Then, last night moving it into the garage it gets a rattle on tick over. Blip the throttle, nothing. Tick over .... omg it sounds awful. Help! 1 Quote Possibly save your life. Bibs 11,167
Check the oil. The dipstick is at the front right of the engine bay, take the engine cover off to make getting to it easier. The engine's don't use oil as a rule but it's worth checking. Kimbers 1,794
Last time I checked which was last time I drove it, it was 3/4 up the stick. Here's the noise https://www.facebook.com/anthony.kimberley.3/videos/10157911648914040/ It just suddenly came on. Last time it was fine. I know what it sounds like but there has been no warning, it runs smoothly when I ran it over to moms to put away in the garage. It was freezing last night but that shouldnt make a difference. au-yt 485
We’re you able to establish where in the engine it was? Hydraulic lifters make a racket until they pump up, but it’s not known as an issue with Toyota’s, Iidler bearing make a squealing noise when the outside is rusty. Kimbers 1,794
Sudden thought. Could it be something to do with the A/C tensioner or something? I've only recently had it done, it was freezing last night (Car was iced up) and cold and when I blipped the throttle it smoothed out with no noise whatsoever! Quote Possibly save your life.
