Hello I have a US Spec 1993 SE and the A/c is not running cold at all. I have been told that the A/C unit in mine takes R12 which I have been told is very very expensive. My questions is the following: I read on one of the web sites about using Freeze 12 as an alternative to the R12 fluid. I read up on the U.S EPA site that states Freeze 12 is a good option to R12. Has anyone used this product before or does someone have a different option for recharge?

Personally I'd stick with the recommended R12.

Might be more expensive but something cheaper could be false economy.

I'm having my V8's A/C recharged tomorrow although when I tried it last weekend it seemed fine. I think Dodgy Dave was probably a bad omen when he was my passanger to and from Supercar Sunday because it wasn't working then?

I've no experience of the Freeze 12 you mention. I guess I just prefer to stick with the recommended products.

I've used freeze 12 in a 92 ford van and a 71 dodge Challenger RT. Both worked very well. The neat thing is you don't have to change the oil out of the system. You also use only 90% of the normal charge vs freon. If you can't get or use real freon 12 then freeze 12 works just great!

Todd,

I have been using Freeze 12 in my 1994 S4 with good results for over a year. It blows pretty cold, however, I suspect a true R12 drop in may blow just a tad bit colder. Either way, it has worked well for me! Let me know if I can be of any other help!

Conform the manual "Lotus Service Notes" (1988-1992 model years/Esprit+Esprit Turbo):

................"the system is charged with 1.4 kg (3 lbs) of Refrigerant 12"...................

Best regards,

Ruud

exactly what I was looking for......

I am trying to refill my Sport 300 AC with R12, and I was wondering 2 things:

1- What mass of gas was needed in the system (1.4 kg, I guess and hope nothing changed for1994 models)

2- Where are the AC refill connectors located, I can't seem to be able to see them...... if anyone could help...thanks in advance :(

Olivier

Just found what I was looking for....

Questions answered ;)
