Not so sure you can without leaving a gap at the top. For me, at +6' it would need to come down a lot. The fix to this problem would be to have a similar arrangement to that of the original dash that you can add by customisation, same with the indicators.

A moot point but Is a dash road legal if you can't see the indicators?

This thread bump has reminded me to get some other bits and bobs for the dash, I plain forgot with all the crap happening in the world.

As it’s aftermarket technically not illegal, the indicator warning should be either a light or audible (I think early v6s didn’t have a clicker though) to pass the MOT.  And even if it’s not working it’s a minor, so I guess they could claim that if the tester is tall. 
 

For type approval there are parameters to design for, but it’s against the average which we’re above so would probably technically pass but doubt they’d make it OEM in this day an age as the market wouldn’t forgive ergonomic oversights. Maybe the AIM engineers are the more compact variety so it never came up?

I tried the new FW this time, but the bar on the digital page did not improve.

Like the image the bar and rpm display do not match.

@GFWilliams Had the car out today and nothing displayed on the gearbox temperature signal from the ECU. Strange though as the engineering unit is in Deg Celsius....

@GFWilliams Did you notice the rpm readout is different on the digital/analogue screens. Both at 39mph, analogue reads 7100rpm - digital at 39mph reads 7600rpm

@550superfast you have a keen eye, well spotted!  I did spot it, and thanks to @Seriouslylotus looking into it, it was diagnosed and the latest update fixes it I believe, although I’m yet to test it.

Only happened once, but after uploading all great went for a spin, parked car on drive. An hour later went to put car in garage and “extra sensor” config not showing. Turned off dash then back on again and there they were. Still bugs with this dash....

As a “collective” are bugs bring reported? My dash is going back when things return to “normal”....

As in you’re getting fed up and returning for refund or needs returning for bug fixes? If needs removing and binnacle off then back on again after fix, what a PITA.

In my case, there is a big difference from the actual engine speed on the digital page.  When I checked with the AIM staff, I was told that this FW could not be improved.  Wait for the next FW!

Hi Dave,

I don't have any expanders, it was just the "extra" inputs you can add from the ECU. Strange really, I'll post again if I see it happen (will try and get a video).

No, Just returning after lockdown as I has a pixellated screen at times and also the HVAC light modification needs to be done. To be fair the dash is fine, just has a few bugs.

Which one is correct? Not seen this yet, but not been out enough...

Just wondering if anyone has had any experience setting this up for the S2 exige?  In particular the adjustable traction control, does the dash display % like the factory unit does?

I did lots of development with AIM on these.

I have one in my Black dash project Elise that has the variable 10 position traction control. Mine has messages

Is it possible that we have been victims through being early adopters?  I haven't had either of the issues detailed above (yet!), but there are clearly issues, such as the HVAC back lighting problem, which is a major oversight on AiM's part, or a distinct lack of testing, either way, they seemed less than bothered when I spoke to them other than accepting a warranty repair, with the hassle and cost of removal/refitting and shipping being on us.  Pretty rubbish for a company that I previously held in high regard selling a product that can hardly be described as cheap.

I do realised that any product/manufacturer can have issues, but the mark of a company is how they deal with those issues.  The dismissive take it or leave it attitude of the contact in AiM support that I spoke to left me in a position where I'd struggle to recommend the MX2E dash at this stage.  I've no doubt that it can be a great product in time, but they do need to look after those who pulled the trigger early on, as it would appear that we are doing the testing on AiM's behalf.

Totally agree... and basically in could be fooking dangerous.....

Decided.... mines coming out tomorrow and going back Monday to get fixed. Will also take advice on getting my postage costs back too, why the fook should we have to pay for something to be repaired, that is only months old and  that is clearly not fit for purpose? Even if its only £20ish...

Sounds like a good idea, Mark.  I agree, it's not the cost of the postage, it's the principal.

If I decide to send mine back, I might wait until things have settled a bit following the return to work, or there's likely to be additional hassle with it going missing at their end.

i don’t know why you’re getting so angry @Mark030358, they’re fixing it for free and updating software regularly to improve off the back of customer feedback.

You were one of the first to buy the dash, I think it’s totally normal for aftermarket car parts to have bugs and issues when the first come to market, the Garw certainly did, but I worked with Alec at the time to fix them instead of getting angry at him.  The AIM needs to be returned, but you’ve refused to do it until now, it only takes a few days to do and the whole country is pretty much locked down any way so IMO you should be grateful they’re open to sort things out.
 

I waited until the bugs had been sorted and bought when feedback was such that I thought it was the right time to buy.  Mine has been perfect since I got it apart from one small bug which was sorted in an update a few days after I got it.

I'm not angry, frustrated is the word. Mainly because it has bugs but I have to take it out, refit the old one, take out he old one and fit the repaired one. As Kenny mentioned above, probably a lack of thorough testing.

Not sure why I need to explain this but I will. I work overseas and not in the country very often (<3 months year), I asked for the dash to be shipped to me in January, when it got fitted. I went back to work February and came back to the UK in March. I had intended to send the Dash back in March and had some email correspondence with James Mulley at AIM at the end of March. To quote James "We are not able to do any hardware work in the factory at the moment and won’t be able to until this corona virus situation is over"  Further, your rights under the sale of goods act diminish as time progresses from the date of sale.

By the way I'm not having a pop at your post about me being "angry", that's what forums are for and that's your prerogative. I respect your opinion, as I have on other other stuff we have talked about in the past. But really George, just because you have done a really good video of the product, which AIM now have on their FB site is no need to try and slate me. Try asking Kenny, Andy and a couple of others the same question.

Basically the kit (or perhaps just the early versions) have issues, end of. Plus this kit is nothing like the GARW unit, which has been developed by one man, this is a large company and the kit is twice the price, so I personally expect it to work.

I can’t really add much to this debate as I decided not to purchase this dash. There is a growing number of comments on here and on FB in relation to a number of glitches and issues being raised. The product on the face of it looks good, but my gut feel is it’s not a complete product. This may of course improve with time. 
 

overall the feedback on the product is mixed. I choose not to take feedback seriously from people who push content on products in which they are being compensated for, in whatever format that may be. 
 

I hope the guys get their dashes sorted out under warranty soon and the product improves over time.
