Lupoletto 9
Hi! I have an Evora S with fan-type exhaust pipe, sport-kat and sport muffler. It sounds great but the exhaust note of the 400 is still another league. What is the difference to the Evora S that makes the 400 sound so much better? Thanks, Lupoletto
Bibs 11,119
I seem to remember that the rest of the pipework on the 400 is a slightly larger diameter which accounts for the extra noise. Gold FFM C8RKH 6,237 Posted January 6, 2020 Gold FFM Report Share Posted January 6, 2020 If I recall the S is 70mm pipe diameters, but the 4XX cars are 76mm diameters, so you need to ensure you don't mix the two pipes up when swapping manifolds, decats, exhausts etc. Quote Alcohol. Gold FFM Techyd 231 Posted January 7, 2020 Gold FFM Report Share Posted January 7, 2020 Yes the 400s have 76mm pipework I've got a 2bular non-valved lightweight system on my S and it sounds simply epic and it has 100mm carbon tips too! Its loud, I don't think it will get in to any track days!

#84 17
The actual front section is 51 vs 60 mm and the rear section, after the 2-1 junction, it is 63,5 vs 76 mm. Both differ by about 40 %, but I would assume it is the front section that affects the note / pitch of the sound most since it affects the accoustic tuning and pulse damping the most. LotusFella 110
does the S exhaust have the valve which opens when you press sport. As I don't hear an appreciable change when I do?
tim_marra 469
It does yes, opens the valve at tickover.

tim_marra 469
I think it is visible through the diffuser? Maybe go for a drive to see if it clears. Has yours not been driven in a while?
LotusFella 110
Doing headlights at moment so hopefully at weekend will be back together. Removed the diffuser/under trays and can’t see any valve.
2011 Chrome Orange 137
When you say you don't hear a change, do you mean your valve is open all the time? Depending on what year your S is will determine where the EP valve (exhaust protection valve) is located.
LotusFella 110
Ok I must have an aftermarket one without valve. Can anyone identify it. Thx Exhaust vid
EuropaSman 59
Looks like you've got the Lotus stage 1 sports exhaust made by Janspeed. If it is it will have LOTAC 05504 and the Janspeed logo engraved on the silencer. Quote Lover of everything Lotus Cars and proud owner of production Evora No.75 (2nd UK customer specced car by VIN). LotusFella 110
Thx. I did look for a logo or part number but couldn’t find one. I’ll have a better look.
LotusFella 110
Well spotted sir. It is indeed a Janspeed. When I opened my eyes I found this. Is it any good?
2011 Chrome Orange 137
Yes, your vacuum line is folded over and plugged so it is no longer going to an EP valve.
