EllieForever
Any advice gratefully received! Dash showing 'refill' on my 1998 Elise S1, went to fill up but the key just turns a full 360 in the lock and the cap turns 360 too with the occasionally clicking sound as it goes but won't come out. Fortunately enough fuel to get home but not enough to get to a Lotus specialist to get it fixed. Any suggestions as to what might have broken and how to fix it. I was wondering if the fuel cap housing has broken away from the bodywork and is therefore just turning but that doesn't explain why the key turns fully does it? Bibs
Is it fully tight, eg clicks when turned clockwise, spins when turned anti-clockwise? S2111S
https://wiki.seloc.org/a/Petrol_Cap This explains the repair should you not want to buy new from Elise Shop. If you scroll to the bottom there's some options for removing the spinning cap.
