V8 Fuel Issue?

Hi All:

Buddy just called me and it seems at high speeds on his 1997 V8 when slowing down from around 130MPH and turning into a turn he gets a huge stumble. Also at idle after driving or running for a while he has a bad sputte, akin to a miss. Any thoughts?

Replace the spark plugs and try it!!

Hey Mark

It defiantly sounds like too much fuel flooding out the cylinder. From there I would look at fuel pressure regulation or an injector sticking open.

Thanks! Plugs have been changed as a 1st line of defense previously, but issue remained. I just called to suggest new secondary injectors to Dannie. They are on order froM JAE.

A simple attempt to correct the issue would be to run a good fuel system cleaner through with a tank of premium petrol. If any gum/varnish is built up on the injector, it may be impeding its ability to fully close/seat. Worth the $5 to try.

Hi Mark,

If it does also occur when he does not enter a turn I would suspect

- pre cat O2-sensors

- or secondary injectors are leaking into the plenum (check the O-rings around the secondaries)
