'Phil's Spec' Evora GT 410

Recommended Posts

Having owned a S1 and 400 I’m completely baffled by this so called launch of a new car.  Find it a tad embarrassing tbh to call it “new”

I’m one of the people holding off buying back into Lotus until I see something properly new. Fingers crossed it’s not too long.  In meantime a 718 Spyder would be my choice of car in this price bracket.

As an S1 replacement it's selling price should be about 70-75k.  Even then it would struggle against the P word's new GTS. Looks good but that rear spoiler needs to go back to the simple clean li

Nice to see they have bought back the S1 levels of interior comfort.  😉

I like the focus on being a GT car than all out racer . I always felt this was the whole point of the Evora? One of the reasons I went for a S1 NA SR - i wanted a more chilled out, compliant ride, usa

No. Bing rather than Google. The former was cheaper.

Alcohol. Sex. Tobacco. Drugs. Chocolate.  Meh! NOTHING in this world is as addictive as an Evora +0. It's not for babies!

The first guy to ride a bull for fun, was a true hero. The second man to follow him was truly nuts!

Personally... I'd buy the Cayman GTS 4.0 at 65k and keep the change.

It is not as fast as it should be (I wonder f they purposefully made it slower to protect the 911) but this is better value.

As often said: an Evora Targa would have been a sensible addition...............anyone knows what happened to this idea?

Too much work to get it work and then  homologated I think but I agree that orb would have been a proper sales boost.

Looks like a 400 with the 410 engine and the GT front end... And the Lotus website was caught out napping...

Agreed, OH and adding the easily replaceable ICE unit, to coin a famous phrase, “Nothing is new that hasn’t been reinvented” seems the 400 is more what the marketing guys think people wanted in the first place....🤔

They look to me like the original 400 door cards.   I see this car as a 400 with updated engine and nose, leaving off all the cf including duck tail, roof etc.  Even the suspension tuning sounds like it is 400 stuff, not even the 410 Sport Bilsteins.

Now similar to US GT line which can be spec'd from a non cf 400 (but with GT rear bumper) to a 410 suspension (sport) and cf package, leaving the 430 out of reach except through separate parts ordering from the UK.

Everyone before me has already said everything I had to say but of course, I will say something anyway.

I did a double take when I saw the door cards just like anybody familiar with a 400 would do.  This is  the car I bought three years ago but asking more money.  I thoroughly enjoy my car so I believe this should be a great street car too.

Yet I couldn't justify buying a GT (or this version  of the same) car when compared to my 400 .  I could only buy  a new one for the sake of simply acquiring  something new.

To clarify, my car becomes more "mine" by the month and it's already been shaken out by me. Any new Lotus will need to be substantively different to attract me.

A Komotek tune, and some upgraded shock/springs narrow the difference substancially between any 400 and the current cars  delivered here. I was even able to acquire a new tailgate at a bargain price,  further narrowing any differences.  Behold an Evora GT405. (Or is it currently a GT405 on its way to being a GT435?)

I understand Lotus is trying to make the most of their situation in the interim but the constant renaming and reshuffling of the same deck while it may be understandable isn't particularly effective.

The Lotus GT405 revealed!

Modify the rear emblem to a LCD display, you can roll the number up like the Times Sq national debt sign.

Also the 718 Cayman is a shitty-sounding four-pot Turbo, so I don't understand the comment: "As for road noise, the Evora is country and western to the Porsche 718 Cayman’s stadium rock."

I would say the 718 is more 1920's Charleston sounding. Ain't no rock n' roll in that fuzz pot of an engine.

I believe you are reading the comment wrong. Unfortunately I believe the majority of readers will also then read it wrong and to be honest it is a poor piece either way and has no clarity in what they are trying to get across.

The statement is regarding "road noise" , not engine and/or exhaust noise.

I did think about that, but 'road noise' implies (as you say, poorly) the noises it makes on the road, such as engine.  Yet another case of lazy writing putting people off Lotus.

Compared to the EVORA 4++ series, to me a lot of new "performance" cars sound like moaning cows with flatulence sounding gear changes.

Their words not mine "If superlative ride and handling is number one priority, then we commend you, because that's laudable - and an Evora is still - still - the class of the field."
