Barrykearley 6,968
Vetos are a moot discussion point. The Lisbon treaty essentially allows for the removal of this with “simple”, “qualified” and “unanimous” voting methods. No doubt the “unanimous” vote would not be allowed on many items by the unelected elite whom know best Quote Only here once
Popular Post Buddsy 1,641
So now Green MEP Magid Magid says hes been "duped". https://www.express.co.uk/news/uk/1152492/EU-news-European-Union-Parliament-Green-Party-MEP-Magid-Magid-latest The real problem of the EU is trying to get 27 differing interests to agree to any thing. And why would you? Each country will want to push whats best for themselves. I mean they cant even agree to where the Parliament should be held leading to the costly ridiculous system of changing venue once a month. So if they cant agree on where to locate what chance has it got... A Dictatorship is the only way to solve it. A leader who decides whats best for the EU not the individual member countries. This is where is has to head and why I dont want to be part of it. buddsy 4 Quote "Belief is the enemy of knowing" - Crrow777

USAndretti42 311
Sorry, Buds, but I got distracted by the headline on that page which read, "Moon landing: NASA deleted evidence of aliens in Apollo 11mission." Doesn't exactly encourage confidence in their standard of journalism. 1 1 Quote S4 Elan, Elan +2S, Federal-spec, World Championship Edition S2 Esprit #42, S1 Elise, Excel SE
Popular Post Buddsy 1,641
Ok So recently I guess due to the pound being quite weak we have sold a few orders to Australia. The Dept. of trade and industry says its a good place to sell to. They speak English, 7th biggest ecconomy and like many of the things we in the UK do. So this is how its been working. Chap says he likes my goods...I give him a price including delivery (no VAT)...he sends me the money....I send him the goods...he pays his duty and gets the goods. Every one is happy. Trade deal? I dunno. I just make and sell the stuff!???! buddsy 2 2 Quote "Belief is the enemy of knowing" - Crrow777

Buddsy 1,641
I remember seeing a video on the history of trade and how it was only basically during The Great War governments set up ministries to oversee trade. Before that time people just traded. Taxes we paid obviously but that was how it was done. buddsy Quote "Belief is the enemy of knowing" - Crrow777

LotusLeftLotusRight 1,317
To be fair to Scotland, they did vote fairly strongly to remain, so we shouldn’t be surprised that they’re not welcoming Boris with open arms. Wales, on the other hand, voted strongly to leave: so why are they kicking up a fuss now? Oh the penny has finally dropped that they won’t be getting any more EU hand-outs: no free infrastructure, no free access to the EU agricultural market, etc. Why should the rest of us have to bail them out? They wanted out, so they should just be made to deal with the consequences of a potential no deal Brexit like the rest of us.

Not unexpected give that for 25 out of the last 30 years that was a Liberal seat, a small majority for the win too. Things are tight indeed, but I see we are now starting to hear more calls for Corbyn to go - a General Election would be impossible to call in terms of the winner right now. Why the hell May went to an election is totally beyond me - her advisers at the time should be spanked! Quote Alcohol. Sex. Tobacco. Drugs. Chocolate. Meh! LotusLeftLotusRight 1,317
This is an interesting BBC graphic. If a couple of those Sinn Feann MPs decided to take a Ryanair to London, they could change everything. I am sure they won't though. They're probably happy with the status quo and hoping that the UK will rip itself apart so that they can re-unify Ireland.
scotty435 1,104
Lib Dem’s over turned a 8000 majority from the last election so the majority is not as small as it looks.
Neal H 897
Only because Plaid Cymru and the Greens deliberately didn't field candidates. Conservatives/Brexit got more combined votes than Lib-Dems/Labour. Strategic voting and alliances will become the norm in future which is a shame. The Conservatives and Brexit Party will have to 'do a deal'. It's all just a further errosion/manipulation of democracy. Despite the rhetoric from Boris and his team, he doesn't have the numbers to deliver no-deal or any other type of Brexit. A General Election is the only way forward, which will effectively be a second referendom. Best to get it over with.
Bibs 11,368
Didn't the Conservatives field their existing candidate who was prosecuted for an expenses scandal recently which caused the by-election? Doesn't seem like they were interested in winning the seat. 2 Quote 88 Esprit NA, 89 Esprit Turbo SE, Evora, Evora S, Evora IPS, Evora S IPS, Evora S IPS SR, Evora 400, Elise S1, Elise S1 111s, Evora GT410 Sport Evora NA For forum issues, please contact the Moderators.
