Servicing Costs

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

My car is coming up for the fourth year service and I was looking for a guide as to prices that I should expect to pay from a main dealer to complete. Mileage is less than 10k.

All previous services were completed foc- kinda want to know if I need sedation before I pay!

If your car has only done 10k have you had full services every year as if the car had done say 10k a year? I just wonder, even though it’s the 4th service just what they are going to do! I honestly feel that low mileage should be taken into consideration. I use a Lotus specialist and he knows the car and the history and does everything he thinks the car needs. I’m sure a dealer will do everything regardless!

All of the main dealers are now operating a Lotus fixed price service since yesterday, prices are supposed to be a reasonable amount less than before, can’t help with figures for your but my second service should now be £480 I believe

There is also an aux belt to consider, LOTUS now have a 4 year change cycle. my car has 40,000 miles on it and the micro v has cracks in the v. so ill get it done but considering they want 250UKP ill consider doing it myself. I recon Aux belts should be on condition not set life. This scheduled change is what Ferrari do to timing belts and there no need but it puts the fear of... into people that they must do it. its one of the reasons I don't own one.

I recon recon for your car, oil and filter every year don't care about mileage unless its over 10,000K in a year. Id have the have the brakes flushed and it its a manual the clutch flushed.

  • 2 weeks later...

I had a level one service done on my 400, yesterday and the Aux belt changed.I got a quote for the belt before hand and to my surprise the bill was a lot cheaper by 25%.  And as has been discussed now LOTUS fits the gator belt. I don’t notice any noise change from the belt.  The belt is now on a 58,000 k or 4 year life

I had a chat to the spares guy, and he said that LOTUS have reduced the price of service items in the last week or so.

When I took my '17 in for an oil change 1.5 years ago to the local dealer, the price was about $850 US.   It sounds like you have it relatively cheap over there.   I am debating whether to consider a local independent shop but lately the only one around has started getting the occasional bad review after the 'star' owner started not doing the actual work.    I dread the upcoming cost of a complete coolant change in a year or two..    I don't have a garage else I'd attempt it myself.   After the warranty is up, simple oil changes I *will* do myself..   $850 US for an oil change is just too much..

My service at Silverstone was £280, should have been £420. I'll be publishing a press release shortly with details of the new pricing regime.

Any news on this Bibs, booked my car in for it’s service with the supplying dealer & apparently this isn’t all agreed yet?

The dealers had their comms a good while back now, it's effective from the 1st March.

If you can let me know which dealership, I'll ask ASO to give them a call on Monday.

I like to know this pricing policy as nothing was on website on my closet dealer, considering a Independent jag Land Rover garage who is a lotus driver as they opened a new facility a two min drive from me and they wanted to know what this fixed pricing is ? Thanks in advance

I had my 400 serviced at level 1 by the Sydney Australian dealer and the aux belt per the service bulletin. Apparently LOTUS has reduced the cost of high volume service items.
Why level one, I elected a level 3 less plugs last year after a Bathurst Track day.

To be honest the prices dont look that much cheaper than what Ive been paying at a dealer, may be 10% daving  at best. The killer is the 4 year service, now nearly double! I can only presume its due to the belt change, but another £450?

Sigh, I was told only yesterday that I'll be getting the press release on Monday.

Anyway, this is from Allon White's website. Not only have the costs changed but the schedule has too.

In November 2019 I paid Lotus Silverstone £877.52 for the GTE’s Year 4 service minus coolant change and gearbox oil change (which weren’t needed in my particular case, due to December 2016 gearbox change). So it seems similar. I guess independents are cheaper?

Ive always used Oakmere / Chris Neils. There was a 'miss understanding' last year so it disnt get the full 4 year service so will get it done this year. Best start saving 😂
