We all have them... jus wondering wich ones and if anyone has made any modifications

i own:

yellow 1/43 s1 (autoart)

white 1/43 s3 Turbo (autoart)

Br racing Green 1/43 s4 v8 (autoart)

Br Racing Green 1/18 S1 (autoart)

Blue Essex 1/18 s3 Essex turbo (autoart)

the later is currently being repainted in metalic black. much nicer than that nasty decal malarkey going on on the side.

i plan to make a non turbo s3 version as this in my view is the ultimate esprit... (dont want to cause a debate!... just in my oppinion) i tried to convert the essex into a normal s3 but its tricky without drastic work. So i plan to purchase an aditional s1 then canabalise the turbo to create the s3. all that needs to be done is the perspex engine cover, bumpers, the wo tricky parts the rear lights and front spoiler...but it should look good. was just wondering if anyone else had attempted something similar or if there are any s3 models out there already.

Oooh. The 1/18th Essex is quite a rare beastie. Of all of them, that would've been the one I left as standard. Autoart didn't have a licence to make the Essex and was withdrawn when Lotus found out.

I have a number of Lotus Esprit models in my collection:

1/43 1993 Esprit Sport300 Le Mans

1/43 1994 Esprit Sport300 Le Mans

1/43 1996 Esprit V8 GT1

1/24 1994 Esprit Sport300 road car

1/18 1978 Esprit Turbo

Then, some months ago, I was contacted by a Russian model builder who wanted to create a 1/18 version of the BPR GT1 car from 1996. I provided lots photos and input, but was a little amazed at his efforts. Scroll back through this thread and check out his work - this guy has skills:

I have considered doing something along those lines, making a 1/18 model of my car, trouble is I am way to busy playing with the real thing.....................

Would love it if Autoart did a Stevens X180. I'm sure it wouldn't be to difficult to adapt their V8. Don't feeling like canabalising mine.

1/18 S1 Yellow Autoart

1/18 S1 Dark Green Autoart

1/18 Turbo Esprit White Autoart

And 100s of other none Lotus models. These are my favs:

That is hugely impressive, Mike.

As you say, he's very obviously immensely talented and skilled. Just wish my Russian was a little better...

The replica of my car started out as an Autoart Copper Bond Esprit, I took it apart, painted the interior red and resprayed the exterior Monaco white (and hand painted the graphic.)

It would have been alot easier If I could have found a white Autoart Turbo Esprit like Mark Blanchards! :)

Hmmm...

As a modeller I'm ovbviously interested in model Esprits - have a white AutoArt S3 Turbo, plus a Bandia 1:16 plastc kit of the S1 and a 1:24th S1 (Nichimo IIRC)

Will post pix if anyone interested...

Re the AutoArt models - these are pretty accurate and seem popular. I've been toying of converting the one I have to represent my car - really a case of decals and new (none split rim) wheels...

Well - I can design and print colour waterslide decals - so logos and plates not a problem

Have a share in a vac form machine - so can replicate glazing

Have all the tools to pattern make (incl. lathe) and cast wheels, bumpers, sills and anything else that would be needed.

Have top notch airbrush equipment.

Not worth doing too much if it's just for my own use - but would anyone be interested an sets of 'conversion kits' to enable you to convert the AutoArt kits to represent your own cars? Could incled the necessary resin parts, instructions and decals - unique to your car!

As an additional option - would there be interest in a 'build' service to professional standards? (I'm a Competition Judge at National/International level - so have high standards!)

As a start I guess a quick show of hands - with an idea of what spec you'd want and I can then look at the logistics/costs...

Have fun...

I would love a model of an S4 but the only ones I know of are out of production, guess the easiest way to convert an Autoart one would be make a wing for a V8 and change the wheels?

I would like 1/18 models of my V8 and a S3 turbo (either JPS or Essex)

The yellow V8 Autoart model that I've seen is (I think) 1/43 and has the older S4s wing.

Iain, I'd be interested in a kit to convert the Auto Art V8 into a 2002 model. Lets see would need new light panel, rear wing, wheels and the new dash/centre console. Would something like that be acheivable?

Regards

Nice cars Mark and Wayne (had a hard time checking out the two S1s - any chance of a shuffle and re-pic?) - would love to see more Iain.

Hi

I've got a few lotus models, also made a kit one. I have the following:

1/18 JPS 72

1/18 TYPE 49

1/18 Black Lotus Esprit Turbo

1/18 Essex Lotus Esprit Turbo

1/18 Lotus Esprit MK 1 in yellow

James Bond collection MK1 Esprit submarine

James bond collection Esprit Turbo

Esso garage model car collection Esprit High Wing SE

1/18 Elise Mk2

1/43 Senna collection F1 cars x3

1/43 Senna lotus F1 plastic kit

1/72 Carrama Lotus Elise x3

1/72 Carrama Lotus Europa x3

1/43 Carrama Lotus Elise MK1

Corgi Lotus 72

Regarding the last model mentioned, if you are of a certain age you may remember Corgi doing a box set with the Lotus Elite in JPS black and gold with a trailer that had the Lotus Type 72 on the back. Would be nice to have a mint one of them still in the Box! I think they also done the Elite in white on it's own.

I would like to get the new 1/18 V8 Esprit model in yellow.

A few images of all my Lotus models. The first image shows one of the models in a set I built for film making. The last image is an original film still from 'The Spy Who Loved Me'. Another item in my Lotus collection.

Here are some pictures of my Esprit models, and those of other Loti. In addition to the ones pictured I also have the Autoart 1/18 Essex, and 1/18 yellow S1 and nearly all the variants of the Hot Wheels Esprits, including a couple I stripped down and painted Chrome Orange.

I included the picture of the Merc 300 SLR as I am very proud of it as it is hand signed by Sterling Moss, and commemorates probably one of the greatest drives in Motor racing history.

One of my aims to collect a 1/43 model of every Lotus F1 car.

After years of searching Ebay, I finally managed to get hold of the 1/24 Sport 300. And a respectable price as well - around

Just picked this Carr V8 on Ebay in 1:43. Not seen one of these before so had to snap it up. Detail not up to Autoart standards but nice anyway. Second pic is all my 1:43 & 1:18 Esprits. The collection is getting bigger and bigger, in addition to these I have 1:72, 1:100 models as well as Corgi, Hot Wheels, Johnny Lightning and James Bond Collection. The collection now runs at 27, how many do you have?

by the way, what color will you paint it (exterior/interior)??

Red with Tan interior. Plus I'm going to shorten and raise the wing to make it an S4 type, also will try to remodel the front and side as per the S4.
