Hi everyone, this is my first post on the forum.  I've recently bought a 1989 Carb turbo Esprit and I'm new to the world of Lotus.  I've been an active member of the X1/9 owners club for 20 years and

Here are a few shots

Welcome - from a current Esprit and former X1/9 & MR2 GT owner 🙂

Welcome to the world of Lotus ownership. When are you getting your second.

You need to post some (a lot) of photos.

Thanks Barry, good point. I checked it at both the battery and alternator and the result was the same. I'll clamp an earth lead to the battery directly off the alternator and see if there is any difference.

Ram a jump lead from the body of the alternator to the -ve post.

the alternator bolts can go fury and then you get no output 👍 - don’t ask me how I know - but I was stuck in a car park once due to this very issue

Full retrim, alcantara dash and headlining. Looks better in the flesh than the pictures. I bought it with a view to toning it down but it's actually growing on me

Interior look nicely finished. Someone has certainly spent a few quid on that!

A VVC nonetheless judging by the wheels. Got one of them here that I acquired for free that I'm in the process of getting roadworthy again - becoming a rare car now if the how many left website is at all accurate.

I had a Rover 220 same colour - except it was the Turbo version  (judging by wheels I suspect that is not a turbo?)   Not sure how I survived ownership as it was fast, coupled with the most outrageously floppy chassis.

Just one question. "Does it come in black?" (apologies to the Batman movie)

All we know is that when they stop making this, we will be properly, properly sad.Jeremy Clarkson on the Esprit.

Opinions are like armpits. Everyone has them, some just stink more than others.
