Here's some examples of why so many people want to reform the American police.

Although it's hidden behind a paywall, there's enough legible here to give an idea of why there were demonstrations here.

can`t help but feel this has gone too far now. Ostracising people for not supporting a cause seems like reverse racism

It's a submissive gesture and inappropriate. Hamilton has ignored the fact that some may not agree with it, or feel the same way as he does, yet it appears he's trying to force them into it. That won't help his cause.

Margate Exotics.

I think Hamilton has read this situation all wrong. I'm a fan of him as a racer but he needs to understand and respect other peoples point of views too otherwise he really is missing the point. I personally would not take the knee. Why? Nothing to do with racism, more to do that I don't like being "told" what to do and I don't need to make a futile gesture to prove to anyone I am no racist, I will just point to them to everyone I have met, worked with, or socialised with who will attest to the fact that race is never on my mind when I am dealing with them and given the industry I work in I meet, interact, work and socialise with people from all backgrounds, race and religions.

If Hamilton and others want to take a knee then do it. All respect. But that does not mean that others who do not take the knee are automatically wrong or a racist.

Symbolism is dangerous, especially when people feel they HAVE to display or face the consequences and that then leads to some serious trouble occurring. Shit, do these guys really learn nothing from history?

I came into this world screaming and covered in someone elses blood. I'll probably leave it in the same way.

It's OK the CEO of Mercedes was just interviewed on Sky Sports before the F1 start and Mercedes have been against racism and exploitation for decades. So that'll be about the 7 decades then, obviously anything before then was just fake news.

I don't have an issue with Mercedes nor the CEO's statement. After all the past is the past. But I do get pissed at them using the current political situation to try to score PR points. Oh and F1 have given a £1m to support anti racism / inclusion. Hmmm, let me see, a sport dominated by predominantly white millionaires and billionaires has given £1m. Somebody must have got the cleaner to check for petty cash behind the back of their sofa on their £multi-hundred million yacht....

As some of the other drivers said, you can support anti racism without having to prove it by dropping to one knee.

I’ve  always been a fan of Hamilton but his criticism of those who don’t drop to one knee, plus his evident anger during today’s race, are leading me to believe that he now has a massive attitude problem which is going to do him no good in the coming months.

Hamilton took his eye off the ball this weekend, too much time spent ordering t-shirts and telling other people what is expected of them. Hard to imagine Clark or Senna fucking around like that on a race week. Look at the good Senna done quietly without a fuss, and had the sense to employ his sister so he could concentrate on racing. No comparison

Apparently Melania is quite handy with scissors, Sellotape and paper. Roll on Christmas.
