.. put the wheels back on the car and now the nearside rear is showing 00 reading on the display.  Is there anything I can check.  Is it just coincidence or could there have been a problem with them being refitted?

thx

How far have you driven since putting the wheels back on the car?

It can sometimes take quite a while (iirc it once took around 30 miles on my previous one) before all TPMS readings were shown and in their correct positions

Ok not far 15 miles. Hopefully it will come good. I’ll take it for a longer run.

  • 3 weeks later...

So haven’t used the car much since getting it back.  Went to drive it yesterday and the front tyre was really low 10psi.  Discovered its leaking from around the valve seat.  Also have done a 40 minute drive.  One the the sensors is just show 00. 😤

I believe there maybe a rubber refresh kit does anyone have one they want to sell or a part number and alternative that works.  Seen that they maybe the same a Saab/GM.

Not sure what to do with the rear that shows 00

Maybe swap the rear wheels over? See what happens with the readings then.

Formula 1 Autocentres can fit a kit for about 20 quid including a check to make sure it seats properly. Had this on mine after wheel refurbishment.

Dave.

It works out how far they are away from the control unit from each one's signal strength.

do you have to take off the tyre or does the rubber fit on the outside of the stem? If it does I happy to take a change if you have to remove the tyre each time I guess I'll have to get the lotus ones.  Looks like 2 are leaking.

I had a torque issue when I bought new rims (BC Forged). I brought new wheels/ new tires/ new transmitters to the tire fitter and didn't realize he did not torque the new transmitters properly. After I mounted them, all 4 tires lost air over night. I had to tighten all 4 transmitters to stop the leaks. I also had to drive about 50 miles for the new transmitters to all register correctly on the dash.

The proper torque for them is 7.5Nm.

how do you electronically connect a replacement tpms to the car?

2nd question.  If I remove them all how do I tell the car to stop monitoring?

It looks like the system will detect the new one. From the manual:

If  a  tire  valve/sensor  is  renewed,  or  is  moved  to  a  different wheel  position,  the  TPMS  will  automatically  identify  the  new configuration.

The TPMS has to be disabled via Lotus Techcentre.
