Maserati MC20 - more than a whiff of Evora?

Recommended Posts

Some pics leaked of the new Maserati today - apart from the forced induction V6, bears more than a passing resemblance to an Evora?

Particularly from above and in profile - put a white SR next to it and you’d be doing a double take.

Interesting given the 11 year design gap and different sector of the market it will sit in!

Being an ex long time classic Maserati owner (khamsin and Merak.) this car has been a long time coming.

The Chubasco to me was a better attempt in the 1990.

having said that this new car is more a cheap volume Ferrari than a Maserati, V6 and all.

Isn't that true of the last few Maserati GT's?

I came into this world screaming and covered in someone elses blood. I'll probably leave it in the same way.

I really don't see why Fiat bother with Maserati. Why not just make a cheaper Ferrari or even an expensive Abarth.

If the name was less exotic sounding, I don't thing the 'brand' would still be alive. How BL must have wished for Austinari, Roveratati or MorrisItali (oh, I think they did try that last one).

I dunno man, there's just something about the brand. I personally love them - I also know of a guy who has a car collection that is beyond epic and he really loves the GranTurismo; and many out there feel the same.

Merak, Quattroporte IV Evoluzione, 3200, 4200 Cambiocorsa, GranTurismo, Ghibli - all awesome cars. I was particularly floored by the quality of my old 4200 - so incredibly well put together throughout. Sadly parts prices and the expensive Cambiocorsa box saw me part ways with it.

If nothing else Maserati is a good stopgap between Alfa Romeo and Ferrari.

Was kind of excited about this, but a YouTube video I saw said "starting at $210k USD". Which means it will probably be quite a bit more properly equipped. Sorry, not worth it IMO at that price. Lets hope for some good ol' Maserati depreciation I guess.

I think Maserati are there so that the folks who bought the latest Ferrari can buy another car that they can actually take out of the garage without worrying about the .0007 of a mile they just put on it.

Does this have a full carbon fibre tub like a McLaren?

More like an Alfa4c...

Nah - Ferrari offer a mileage correction service do they not?

Only here once

I've read some weird rumours along the lines of "The MC20 was meant to be sold as a Dino while the Roma was meant to become the Alfieri" - I can kind of see it. This car has nothing whatsoever to do with Maserati, except maybe that crazy track car they put out a long while back. Is "Carbon Fibre + Alcantara Delete" an option at this point?

It looks cool, I can't fault the exterior other than it doesn't really have its own identity. The interior looks like any modern supercar interior. Dunno if this will sell?

If this were a Lotus Evora s3 I would be more positive than seeing the Russell Carr design reinterpreted by Maserati (with the rear / taillights of the Renault Alpine in a way...). Ok, far better than their SUV in my eyes but not enough “own” ideas....

Yes, but the more important question is would buying the Maser qualify for additional "Ferrari loyalty points" to allow the punter the privilege to be on the waiting list to buy a used Roma in 5 or 6 years time, or whenever deemed worthy? 🤔

Are you sure it was two exhausts on the teaser pics and not two charger sockets?   :)

Sorry but McLaren already did it and the execution on the MP4-12C was in my opinion spot on....
