My own slightly embarrassing claim to fame is that I featured in one of the Escape to the Country progs around 10 years ago!🙈

At the time I was one of the area organisers for the Lotus 7 club and one day received a call from the tv production company. They told me one of their future participants wanted to buy a house with a garage big enough to build a 7 and it would be good if I could arrange for them to meet a group of 7 owners and go for a run.
I’d just replaced my 7 with an Elise SC but still wanted to do it, so got a group together and I had to talk to the chap on camera, explaining how he could join the club.
The run out in the cars with the two participants passengering was fun. We were told in no uncertain terms to keep below the speed limits so two of the cars were fitted with cameras and off we went.
Telling a group of 7 owners on deserted B roads to stick to the limits, however, was never going to happen and I will always treasure the terrified look on the face of the chap, beautifully caught on camera.😂

This subsequently involved lengthy discussions between me and the programme producers at a later date when they were editing the footage. I had to do a lot of quick thinking and find valid reasons to assure them we were abiding by the rules and it only looked fast on camera because the cars are so small. To be honest though, 100mph still looks fast, whatever the size of car!😂

Oh and I managed to get my Elise in pride of place on camera. 😁

Er, the ‘Exige’ that she got in looked distinctly like an Evora!

To be honest I was more interested in her

All look the same don't they...

I came into this world screaming and covered in someone elses blood. I'll probably leave it in the same way.

Car isn't small, it's normal sized, you can tell by the relationship to the number plate.

Blessed with the competence to be a slave to the incapable.

Currently without a Lotus, Evora 400 Hethel Edition in Racing Green with Red leather and 2010 Evora N/A in Laser Blue and 1983 Lotus Excel LC Narrow body in Ice Blue all sadly gone.

Yes, I’m still surprised I managed to get away with that plate on the Elise! Owned the car for 5 years but didn’t ever get stopped. It did fail one MOT when I’d forgotten to swap it with the original one year though. 😤
