`Need help to identify AC hose fittings - Interior/Exterior/Lights/Glass/Alarms/ICE/HVAC - The Lotus Forums Jump to content

HI all,  can anyone tell me if this in-line connector on my braided ac hose is original or a repair?  It is located about 600mm (2') from the compressor connection.  It seems an excessively heavy and large for a factory fit on my 1983 Turbo.  Debating whether to leave-in and change the gas, compressor, etc. or replace the whole hose(s).

It's a repair.  The stock hose is continous.  It looks a perfectly good repair, however, my gas sniffer finds the original braided hoses pretty porous with R134.   I'd swap the hose if you can do it yourself, as its not a particularly expensive job, especially if you can crimp your own fittings.

I think most of us that have recomissioned/installed AC have made our own hoses from AC parts suppliers found on the internet.   However, I do recall seeing that SJSportscars had ready made AC hoses.

I am sure there are places in the UK that specialise in supplying hydraulic equipment. They should be able to make you aircon hoses to whatever length that is required.

I almost never buy "off the shelf" oil cooler, aircon, power steering hoses as they are so readily custom fabricated.

Thanks all.  Cold hose look great, but the freight charges to the UK make the prices too high.  I’ll keep looking for braided hose a I am trying to keep everything bar reliability as original as possible.
