Popular Post slay 25
Hi all, Having posted an initial post to ask for some buying advice on Lotus Esprit, I missed the V8 advertised on eBay (not sure of seller was/is a forum member), before I started looking at S4s and GT3. Long story short, I was going to give the S4s a miss because it was advertised at UK Sports Cars and I was concerned about the feedback posted in this forum. Fortunately, I then found out from your reply to my post that it was Nick's car @fflyingdog and decided to buy it after I had a chat with him. After all, the car must have been treasured and cared for if it was part of the family for 17.5 years ! UK Sports Cars was lucky to get hold of Nick's car after he traded it in for an Evora, I definitely would not have bought the car had it not been a car that belongs to a lotus enthusiast. I had never driven one before I bought it, in fact I had not even tested driven one before I picked up Nick's car from the dealership! First impression - immediately understood why people say that you need to have small feet to drive the Esprit ! I have found that the more I drive her, the more I appreciate the driving experience. Of course there are flaws, but I do appreciate its characteristic, it is just raw, quirky and I love the whole analog driving experience. Most importantly, I still love the wedge look of the car after all these years. As a matter of fact, Nick just reminded me that she just turned 25 today! Well, she is all washed and waxed and rest nicely in the garage. It is great to join the lotus ownership family, with people always willing to help and give advice. I already visited Ian @Chillidoggyand have seen possibly one of the best conditioned S4s, Ian definitely has transformed his S4s inside and out ! That is quite a high (and expensive ) benchmark for the list of improvements to make ! Thanks Ian for all the useful advice and recommendation, I just need to enjoy the journey and work my way up the list of things to do. I also had the pleasure of visiting Watford Exotic :-), Gary's knowledge on the esprit was the most impressive and I am so glad that I have someone like Gary to look after my Esprit (thanks Ian) and I am taking the car back once Gary has a free time slot for me! Finally, I have been bugging Nick about all the details on his old mistress, I think he is probably regretting giving his contact details to me now 😉. It was very interesting to learn about the car's history by reading through all Nick's posts in the forum! Apologies for the long introduction post, looking forward to meeting you in the next (hopefully) covid-19 free meet!

exeterjeep 316
Congrats on getting into lotus ownership. Back in 1981 I so so so wanted my first lotus, an elite 501, that I had never driven any lotus before driving the one I bought from Len Street Chelsea when I drove it home to Hemel Hempstead. Did not even drive on the test drive. Have been addicted to them since. (Mind you it did have a break down on the way home.)

Gold FFM Hornsey Boy 59 Posted October 13, 2020 Gold FFM Report Share Posted October 13, 2020 Lovely S4s....a better call than a V8. Plus its ex forum's member car, which makes all the difference. With my S4 the last 4 owners were all on this wonderful forum. The Gold membership is worth every penny and more 👍
stephenwhyte 2,001
Welcome Stanley - you’ve definitely bought a fantastic looking example of an S4s in a stunning spec. Nick cherished the car by all accounts and I’m sure he’s pleased it’s gone to someone like yourself, that sound like they will really treasure the car. A great result all round. She’s a beauty - enjoy!😎

Nick definitely has treasured the car for 17.5 years, I think I am even mor OCD than Nick when it comes to cars 😉 1 hour ago, TomE said: Lovely looking car and great to read your enthusiasm.
