Help with locating a classic car workshop in the Winchester Southampton region

Recommended Posts

Hi All

I am hoping someone can assist with reputable workshop suggestion as I am looking to bring a classic car to Australia and need to ensure the car has no Asbestos in it any where.

I may/will be in need of a workshop to do some work on the car I am aware that the UK banned Asbestos from 1999 but as the car was built in 1993, it has Ford Pinto engine and 5speed Sierra box.

I am hoping that the history records have some information that may save the drama but that to be determent.

This may involve Clutch change brake pads front and rear and even head gaskets and any insulation removal. even as far a deep clean inside and out and every nock and, you know what I mean.

Hi Brent it's a 1993 Ginetta G27 factory built car.

Phaff's underlings  claim they have no access to or info in their files about heratage vehicles. What the!, the car was shown at 93 Frankfurt show and its there first demo car, I'm continuing to ask.

Personally, I would be looking for a Ginetta specialist who is based in, or near, Hampshire.

You could try asking here: https://www.ginetta.org

Otherwise, this operation seem to be based in Hampshire and have previous Ginetta experience: http://mattblythmotorsport.co.uk/index.html (They might be too 'modern' for your requirements though).

This lot might be able to help as well (and aren't very far away in West Sussex): https://svgmotorsport.com

Good luck.

Yep I have re joined the Ginetta Club After 33 years. a very polite bunch, however no suggestions so far.

Most of the work needed is  engine gaskets, clutch and brakes. I may finish up using the workshop that does the MOT's and work, for the owner as he knows the people.

I have since been in contact with the person who actually built the car in 92/3 at the Ginetta factory!

I have learnt that Arrowprecision built the engine so I sent them an email in the hope they have tech details of the work and the parts. As part of the job of my working life was tech researcher, I'm so happy to dig beyond part numbers if they have even have them.

Long process , I have a friend and it took him nearly 2 years to get a car from Italy... but it was Italy
