Excel Instrument mounting panel template wanted

Recommended Posts

Hello,

My project car is an amalgam of an Elite, two wrecked Excels and various new parts.

I was lucky enough to get a complete dashboard and binnacle from one of the Excels, but neither car had the instrument mounting panel.

I should be grateful if some kind soul would make an instrument mounting panel template out of cardboard for me so that I can make my own in metal and walnut

Many Thanks in advance

Brian

Hi Brian,

Which dash do you have? The early Excel used a dash very similar to the Elite. If it is this one I still have the trim panel that fits over the instruments from my S2.2 from which I could make a template. Otherwise you will have the later SE type which I can’t help you with.

cheers, Richard

I think I might have an SE style steel instrument mounting panel in the lock-up.  I'll try and have a look over the next couple of days.  I don't remember throwing it away (but there are lots of things I don't remember these days!!).

Thought I'd check in the shed before venturing off to the lock-up - I've got the steel part you are looking for Brian.  I assume you're aware that the instruments mount to the steel part with the "wooden" mask fitting over the top.  I might have the veneered masks somewhere, but I do remember that they were rather warped at the corners (people over-tighten them).

Peter, Tony,

Thanks for taking the time to reply.

I would like to take up Peter's offer, if that doesn't offend you, Tony.

Peter I will message you so that we can correspond directly
