Esprit insurance 2021

Hi All,

Wow, Just got my insurance renewal through. Gone up by nearly 80%. I'm currently with Performance Direct, anyone got any recommendations for a cheaper company?

They were leagues ahead of everyone else last year.

Andy.

Peter Best smashed it for me last year knocked AIB out the park and I checked the T&C’s  which were better’agreed value of 40k

Cover is by Hiscox which is about the best you can get

I've been with ClassicLine ever since I got my Esprit. In fact I have four cars insured with them on various classic and laid up policies at present.

Norfolk Mustard S4s #1 :)

Thanks guys,

I've used the online quote form on Peter Best's website and they are quoting only 10% more that my previous insurance cost with Performance direct. Result.

I'll give AIB and Classic line a try too.

Will let you know my findings.

Andy.

Hi Andy,

Would you mind sharing the company's name per chance?

Thanks for all your help Guys,

I've now renewed the insurance on my Esprit 1990 SE for £139.00 with AIB. (Thanks Danny)

(£25k agreed value, £300 excess, 3000miles per year, no breakdown cover)

For your interest, here's the quotes I received;

£139.00   AIB

£144.00   Performance Direct

£157.00   Peter Best Insurance

£182.00   ClassicLine (Includes some breakdown cover)

£235.00 Compare The Market website's best quote.

Cheers, Andy.

Mind you 3,000 miles is no good. I generally do 6-7,000.

The 3000 figure was voluntary and a realistic expected mileage chosen by me.

I'm sure that if I had told them 7000, the cost might only be a little more.

Andy.

Glad you got sorted at a reasonable price. That's about the same as mine with AIB, including commuting cover and the current Mrs H (even though she has no intentions of ever driving it!). Garaged with alarm and tracker and I'm early 50s with a clean licence.

TBH when I've insured a couple of other classics short term to play with, they've all been about £100p/a for 3000 miles, almost regardless of what the car actually is. When something 'interesting' is your second or third car I guess they know it's your baby so alongside the limited use it's low risk.

Not worth starting anything now...🍺
