Stay at home and only go to work if it is ABSOLUTELY necessary as the work can't be done at home. How much clearer does he need to be? Are people just being pedantic/obtuse on purpose? He has only shut businesses that are open to the public, so the manufacturing segment for example is free to continue, as is logistics and mail order for example. All of these things need staff on site. So the only way to restrict travel to essential services is to shut all non essential businesses. He has not said that only essential services can commute. He is absolutely clear that he wants everyone to stay at home, but he has not enforced what he needs to in order to achieve that and has not said that only essential workers can commute and I would suggest that this is quite deliberate and carefully worded. 1 Quote Blessed with the competence to be a slave to the incapable. Macron hasn't been clear either, he kept repeating we were in a war (6 times) but failed to say once the word confinement (=lock-down). It's amazing to see how similar it is in all countries a few weeks apart ... We had to wait a couple hours later in the evening (about 10:30-11pm I think) until a minister announced a few more details. And the self signed attestation template wasn't available before the day of the lock-down (on the Saturday following the Monday evening speech) Anyway, I suspect Mr B. Johson hasn't been clear either to avoid frightening people ... like here it was announced at least 2 weeks of lock down, while everyone just a bit interested in the topic was fully aware it was ridiculously short (it's more expected to last at least 30-45 days ... as everywhere else)

Sadly the government as been to slow with there actions to saves now and god knows how long into the the future, as this forum as showed in the last hour there is still a state of confusion of what his careful words actually mean. Vegans are going to be shitting themselves - now I understand the loo roll shortage! (sorry, couldn't resist that! Don't really wish to make light of this sorry state). Personally, none of the Politicians are really any wiser than the rest of us - these are extreme times and it has truly exposed the level of shit for brains that exists, not just here but the world over. Boris is a natural libertarian and I can appreciate that he has not taken easily to being authoritarian in style and attitude. He has also been taking advice and to some extent hoped the masses would follow suit. It is extremely difficult to look at this with a 'one size fits all' attitude. I'm lucky enough to live in an area with currently very limited exposure to this outbreak but as someone who's better half works in a Hospital, can appreciate, 1 the need to socially distance myself and family and 2. to accept that we will most likely get infected if my Mrs brings it home. We are doing what we can but I won't stop the kids taking the dogs for a walk. We rarely see another sole. I wish everyone on here all the best and look forward to normality (or whatever passes for normal amongst Lotus owners) returning forthwith. On a seperate (but related theme) - maybe this forum will act as more of a social lifeline than ever over the next 3-4 months. Pay your £24 and be happy. (is that ok @Bibs ?) going too be some bloody cheap cars about in the not too distant future. 7 1 Quote Is the price for that bit in Yen or £? Good job Corbyn and MacDonald didn't win then as they'd be dithering even more. Overall I think the PM and the Chancellor have been doing OK in the circumstances. I think critics often forget that their biggest challenge is usually deciding what to have for breakfast each morning. I think the scale. The dimensions. The ramifications of messaging and decision making is immense. Not an easy job made harder by all the sofa experts who have a smidgeon of the facts and data and no responsibility for the ramifications, and the numbfooks and pedants who just ignore the advice anyway. Maybe we could cut them a bit of slack eh? 2 Quote Alcohol. Sex. Tobacco. Drugs. Chocolate. Meh! NOTHING in this world is as addictive as an Evora +0. It's not for babies! ramjet
Here you go. Just on our News. I kid you not. A National Australia Bank employee caused a mass evacuation and a professional cleaning of his branch after going to work and telling everyone he had tested positive. He was not. He was sacked. ramjet
I think politicians are getting caught out because they, and quite possibly their advisers, are underestimating the speed that things are changing Like tailgaters. People at the front stop in time and then everyone else just starts crashing. Have a look at the US political system. That’s an absolute debacle. Just watched Trump then. Be thankful you have Boris. 2 Quote All we know is that when they stop making this, we will be properly, properly sad.Jeremy Clarkson on the Esprit. Opinions are like armpits. Gold FFM Barrykearley Posted March 24, 2020 Author Gold FFM Report Share Posted March 24, 2020 So - this is what I’ve been arguing and battling with - plain stupidity. we have a barn which we Airbnb - a few days ago a booking came in. Due to arrive Today I contacted Airbnb yesterday as I wanted to cancel this as I was becoming increasingly concerned about government announcements and the probability of a movement lockdown . they want to charge $100 and remove my superhost status for a year!! i contact the person who booked.. I am stunned by the reply 1 Quote Only here once
