^ Tell me more @CocoPops 😃 (it is good to see you around here again)

I knew I wanted the last of the Elise back in Feb 2019, so signalled my intent then and then followed up last Autumn with a letter of intent into my dealer to secure a slot.

Just bided my time with my current Elise between then and now. Will be up for sale soon, or will part exchange when the time comes.

I'm expecting the spec any time soon hopefully.

Current: 2021 Lotus Elise Cup 250 FE in Isotope Green, Red Alcantara Interior, Carbon Aero Kit, AirCon, Carpets & Mats, NVH pack, Cruise Control, Stereo, Red Calipers.
Now Gone2018 Lotus Elise Sport 220 in Metallic Blue, Alcantara Pack, Forged Wheels, 2piece brakes, AirCon, Hard/Soft Tops, Red Calipers, Stereo, Interior Colour Pack, NVH Pack, Carpets, Mats.
Previously Owned: 2016 Lotus Evora 400, 2010 Lotus Evora NA, 2003 VX220 Supercharged, 2001 VX220 Lightning Yellow

Hum so if the new car is getting an hybridized V6 and this V6 is longitudinally monted... even as a strict 2 seater, I anticipate it to be slightly bigger than Evora so it would be the car on the left?!

Wiping the slate clean and coming out with 3 new cars and a hypercar does seem a bit Bahar-ish (you're welcome @Suddabym). Wot no SUV? Guess they didn't have a tarp big enough..

They are talking about the cars to be produced in Hethel.

The SUV will be manufactured in China.

So 3 cars huh? I am just glad they all appear to have a different look. I hate the trend where cars from the same company all look very similar. One on right seems Elise-sized. Two on left seems to be much wider.

2022 Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing (MT) ◄ 2017 Lotus Evora 400 (SOLD) ◄ 2013 Lotus Evora S (SOLD) ◄ 2005 Lotus Elise (SOLD) ◄ 1991 Mitsubishi 3000GT VR-4 (SOLD)

@yeller77The three new sports cars were intended by JMG, the difference is in the timing... it's not supposed to be a blitz but a progressive unveil... However they are now about 3 years behind on the initial plan because of late change in strategies and covid. the new sport car was initially a 2019 unveil and 2020 release which is now going to be a 2022 release. But the full EV sport cars were hinted a 2024 initially for the first product, this is still a possible release date but it will probably be delayed to sometimes between 2025 and 2026.

Also, the Alpine deal goes a long was reestablishing Lotus' place in the automotive consulting world and definitely helps proving to the higher ups at Geely that Lotus is a valuable entity.

Back to Type 131, so it replaces all three current models, and according to Autocar it does it while being a V6 hybrid?  if the starting price is 55k and the top end price is 100k ish, it probably is gunning for the Boxster/Cayman combo.  A sport premium mid engined V6 hybrid for 55k ?! the other mid engine hybrid in the sport premium arena is the NSX, that car is not at 55k entry price. I'm not saying it can't be a V6 hybrid, but a V6 hybrid would command a higher price don't you think?

Looks like they take their styling cues from the Evija as previously mentioned. The middle car has one line of lights that are quite wide. The smaller car on the right has two lines of lights that are narrow. The car on the left has three lines of lights. So family likeness with different accents.

This would be a drastic change to many early communications. 131 was supposedly to be 55k 4cyl and a 100k+ 6cyl.

we also know that the car is wider than an evora based on test cars pictures.

I am going to give a view here, not a V6 Hybrid (heavy for no reason performance wise), and not a V6. A flat 6!

That would be something to  end the ICE story of the company!

So that is pretty much my point. A V6 hybrid doesn't make commercial sense at 55k.

The extra size probably comes from the need for more room for the occupants of the car. Autocar previously said that the car is a spiritual replacement of the Esprit. So having an entry model with an hybridized 4cyl ( from Geely-Volvo/Polestar) makes sense.

The delay with the program seems to coincide with Geely’s purchase of the Mercedes shares are we looking in the wrong direction for the power train?especially with the announcement last year on a venture with Mercedes to develop future petrol engines.

This might be heinous talk but what about a 3-cylinder hybrid, like the BMW i8? Light, low cost and accessible just like the Elise it replaces.

A crazy line up such as:

- No cylinder full EV - Evija

- 3-cylinder hybrid

- 6-cylinder hybrid

-12-cylinder hybrid monster (unlikely!)

Signature not working...

If it is a AMG engine, then it won’t be a V6 as Mercedes is moving away from producing those. They have 4cyl options good for 400Bhp+ though

Mercedes are not developing any more ICE engines - they announced that last year

Mercedes has an in line 6 cylinder AMG lite engine which is pretty damn good too .. used in the 53 series

I was just thinking their E53 is a 6 cylinder with mild hybrid!

Excited about the new cars, but when will they be in showrooms to test drive and order. When will they be delivered to customers? I'm worried that Lotus have announced this prematurely and just Osbourne Effected some of their dealers out of business.
