Bell & Colvill September Track Day - Castle Combe

Just received an email from B&C about this.

I've been on one of their Goodwood days - a fair few years back - and I quite fancy going this time around.

Anyone else going? (especially with an older car).

Bloomin expensive (£260) 😳

Club Lotus track day at same venue is usually around £100

Always do sober what you said you'd do drunk - that will teach us to keep mouth shut!

Does include a buffet lunch and some tuition..

I wonder what happens if you just turn up to look at the cars.

Still a pricey sandwich 😜

I guess the cost is down to only 28 cars max so you’ll actually get plenty of track time - well, enough to get through a set of tyres lol.

Plenty of people turn up just to spectate at the Club Lotus track day at Castle Combe - still no confirmation that’s even happening end of May at this stage.

Great circuit though.

That's all I have done before - but not for many years.

I seem to remember that the B&C day at Goodwood in 2014 cost more - or at least a similar amount, and others after that were more expensive.

I don't remember any restriction on turning up to watch - especially if you come in a Lotus.

I did find that being to only "old" Lotus present was a disadvantage as the modern stuff is much better at going round corners, so a large amount of time spent was letting others past on the straights.

Open pit lane, 28 cars, driver tuition. Don't know if the tuition is extra, or if it is restricted to Lotus/Morgan - I have asked.

I've had some answers back from B&C:

  • Customers can bring any make of car
  • Starts at 07:30 - noise & safety briefing
  • On track around 09:00
  • Ends around 17:00
  • Tuition is included in the price - by a Lotus representative.

Needs an early start then, not normally out of bed by 9am

I was thinking I might go and stay the night in the vicinity for once as I've had enough of 5:30 starts to get to Goodwood.

Hopefully things will be more normal by then and hotels/pubs will be back up and running.
