b4ip
About a year ago I purchased a Lotus Evora S 6sp 3.5L SC in Australia. The car drives well and I'm very happy with it. But I have a problem with the central locking system. When I press the button on the key fob to lock the car, both doors lock as expected. But when I press the button to unlock, only the passenger door side unlocks. One press should unlock the driver door and another press should unlock the passenger door. It doesn't matter how many times I press the button the driver door remains locked. Occasionally, about 1 in 10 times it actually works correctly - the first press unlocks the driver's door & second press unlocks the passenger's door. Anyone experience this problem or know what's causing it? Is it more likely the solenoid/actuator, or am I likely looking at replacing the whole central locking system control unit? Also any advice on how to access and check the actuator. Edited April 2, 2021 by b4ip Added more info.

If it's an early car, it's likely to be the pins sticking in which case a spray of dry lubricant fixes the issue. I had the same on my drivers door so used this and it's fixed it nicely. thanks for your feedback Bibs. what are the "pins"? do I need to take the door apart? are they easy to get to? I'm pretty sure its 2013, but could be 2014 model. Edited April 2, 2021 by b4ip Added more info.

Cdm2018
Tried to fiddle with the pin but no luck the door locked the fob make the pin shoot to closed but seems I can’t open the door everything been fine no indication of the issue in last few weeks ?☹️
agentdr8
The latch is probably binding somewhere and not allowing for a complete unlock. Try manually manipulating the door lock pin up and down while trying the interior door handle. If it still won't open, there are very few options left to get the door open when the latch won't budge. I have a write-up on LT about one such method.
Cdm2018
Finally after playing with the pin and using the key in the barrel the door opened ! 😀 actually feel quite proud of myself ! Lol sprayed a load of silicone stuff into the pin and door mechanism on the outside of door not sure if this was due to recent heatwave ? I am not sure if this issue will return periodically , one silver lining my traction light hasn’t come on in last few days 😳

Thanks Dave for the reply and link however I am good enough to attempt the fix you had written up so brilliantly
RedS4
Hi All I'm a new Evora owner and I have the same issue with the driver's door lock - except my car doesn't have the pins in the doors mentioned above (2014 NA manual)... Is it really a matter of taking off the trim and lubricating everything, or is there a better solution now? agentdr8
The Inteva latches (MY12+) are supposed to be better, but they probably could use lubrication as well. You can try spraying lube in through the pawl area of the latch before tearing down the door panel.

RedS4
Well I took it to the dealer - and after two attempts by him it started working perfectly... Of course.... So now I wait to see if it is in fact fixed or if the issue returns....
au-yt
Seem like the standard car problem when you take it to the dealers "couldn't fault" it.
RedS4
Well I can now report that the problem persists... I am now trying to decide whether to go back to the dealer or tear down the door myself... Has anyone done this and how difficult is it?
b4ip
RedS4 my door lock/unlock problem persisted intermittently until I finally ended up taking it to a mechanic who had to replace several components of the locking system in the door. My local Lotus dealer originally inspected the problem and came back with a quote of almost $1,500. My mechanic ended up doing it for around $900. It was a very annoying problem because my key fob would only unlock the passenger door so I would have to climb in the passenger side, manually unlock the driver's door and then get in the driver side.
