End of classic cars in London?

Totally agree about the incredulity in how he got voted back in....but isn't this just rabble rousing?  Most "classic" cars are not used for commuting or the daily school run - they sit parked under covers and come out a dozen times per year.  Yes annoying to pay for the privilege on those 12 days, but its not a ruinous expense.  Its all of the really useful non-classic older cars that should be up in arms.  I still don't really understand the logic of the scheme - my 5 litre V8 Supercharged RangeRover is compliant...but neither of the Lotus are - hard to believe they put out more nasties than the FullFat Rangie.

Loving Lionel and Eleanor......missing Charlie and Sonny

I also cannot believe how Kahn got voted back in. I for one did not vote for him. No one I know who lives in London and enjoys their cars voted for him. I guess London contains more anti-car people than pro-car.

Looking for my first Lotus - A Giugiaro design Turbo Esprit - Message me if you know of one or considering selling yours

Not trying to be arsey but would have thought that was obvious - more anti-car people in London.  London is a left wing socialist city with a large proportion of green/hip inhabitants.

Alcohol. Sex. Tobacco. Drugs. Chocolate.  Meh! NOTHING in this world is as addictive as an Evora +0. It's not for babies!

The first guy to ride a bull for fun, was a true hero. The second man to follow him was truly nuts!

It is the anti car people who are more likely to vote. Lot of not interested voters in london

Sorry if a stupid question as I have never driven through the congestion zone since it was introduced, but are electric vehicles allowed to use the zone at no cost? If so how will this ease congestion when all cars sold will soon be electric?

Exactly! You can register an EV for a £10 annual fee and not pay the CC & I believe they can travel through the ULEV without registering.

It's just a cash cow, how are the worse polluters, taxis and buses, exempt.

We have a similar LEZ in Brussels, for about 2 years now. Only cars >30 years old and registered as a classic (and thus not allowed on the commute to work) are exempt. We can pay for access, but only 8 days per year. There is one loophole though: you can only get one fine every 3 months, to give people a chance to get another vehicle. At €350 a pop that meant I was paying €1400 per year for the privilege of driving my Esprit to work. The rules get tighter every year, by now my Range Rover is no longer compliant either, so I'm out of options. Good thing I haven't been to the office this year...

Gent and Antwerp are even worse, as they don't make any exceptions to their LEZ. End you can only buy daily access for cars >40 years, also with a limit of 8 days per year. Not sure of the price or fines in those cities, no reason to visit them anyway. But this will become a very serious problem should more cities follow! I might just have to get an Emira... Or rotating licence plates. :ninja:

I have made many mistakes in my life. Buying a multiple Lotus is not one of them.
