Popular Post Shawn_B
Hi, I am a new owner of a 1990 Lotus Esprit SE. I have wanted one of these cars since I was a boy. 30 years later I finally own the car of my dreams. I am learning about it best I can and hope to use this forum and Facebook groups for assistance with maintenance and repairs. I live in Colorado USA. I am a fairly good garage mechanic and like to do my work rather than take it to a mechanic.

jep
I first drove an Esprit SE in 1997....I remember looking down at the speedo whilst on the M1 motorway, thinking I was at 90mph or thereabouts. 120mph was indicated. It was a joyous experience, a really well sorted motorcar. Justin

ramjet
Welcome to TLF Shawn. It was a pearl coloured SE that first caught my eye in Perth in Western Australia when I lived over there. I knew of the Esprit from TSWLM as did many other people. I got to test drive its baby brother. The model before the SE. The thing went like a rocket. When the dealer told me that the SE was even more powerful, I made up my mind to definitely own one. There is a topic on here from when I bought my S4 which I still have at the moment. Really hope you enjoy the car. I do all the work on mine. I have used a guy in Melbourne as well, but that was for some suspension work that I did not have spring compressors for. If you are handy with your tools, you'll be fine. Remember, there are no stupid questions. Any questions or issues with using the forums, feel free to ask one of us mods. We're here to help. Moderator Escape Posted May 23, 2021 Moderator Report Share Posted May 23, 2021 Congrats Shawn and welcome to TLF! Great looking car, Calypso Red is an excellent color, you just have to accept the inevitable 'is it Ferrari?' questions. 🙂 I used to have a red SE (still miss it), now I daily drive a silver SE. As you, I do all the work myself, with the help from this forum. Don't hesitate to ask questions, more than happy to help. Enjoy the drive! Filip Quote I have made many mistakes in my life. Buying a multiple Lotus is not one of them.
