This Esprit Sport 350 is coming up for auction on Collecting Cars. No description yet but judging from some of the photos it looks to be heavily uprated and modified into a track weapon.

They don't come up often. It will be interesting to see the description when it is posted and how much it will fetch.

Rob's car. Last time I saw that was at Castle Combe a few years back, it's quite a machine! Shame he's selling, he's owned that for a long time.

That is sad to hear Barry. Indeed, you have to enjoy them while you can ☹️

There were only two S350s produced in the Monaco White.  This represents a chance for someone to benefit from a well evolved and developed car with some really unique features (e.g. one of only a few GTO UN1 6-speed dog engagement gearboxes)

1996 Esprit V8, 1998 Esprit V8 GT, 1999 Esprit S350 #002 (Esprit GT1 replica project), 1996 Esprit V8 GT1 (chassis 114-001), 1992 Lotus Omega (927E), 1999 Esprit V8SE, 1999 Esprit S350 #032, 1995 Esprit S4s, 1999 Esprit V8 GT (ex-5th Gear project), 1999 Esprit V8SE ('02 rear)

I looked at this car years ago at the lotus show at Donnington, I remember Rob saying about the 6 speed box, I think he said it was one of the best upgrades. It did make me think what that box was like to use compared to standard?

Being straight cut and dog engagement, it comes down to pros and cons which may be more or less relevant depending on what you want from the car:

Pros:

- much faster shifts, with a shorter throw

- possibiltiy for flat throttle clutchless upshifts

- closer ratios

Cons:

- gearbox noise and whine

- expense and rarity of spare in case of rebuild
