All the important bits were there and in the demo showing on the screens there were adjustments.

I have no idea how user configurable they are.

Things like G-Force are a bit of bollocks but all the main stuff was covered.

Apart from Range and Speed I do like to know the time, what Radio Station I am on and where I am going.

The quality of the instrument cluster screen seems to be much worse (on all pictures colors are very bleached, esp. blacks) than the infotainment one's. Can somebody comment on that?

Looks like the lighting angle. They should be both consistent.

I haven’t had a virtual cockpit before but might it be materials/screen technology to minimise light reflection and maximise being able to see the information in bright daylight?

With nearly two and half million subscribers like it or not his opinions matter especially to the first time buyers to the brand. Great choice of colour and spec, me for one can not wait to see his future videos on the Emira.

Although the steering wheel he says he's spec'ing isn't available for the manual V6.

Surprised he's having the light grey interior with the yellow. Would have thought the alcantara with yellow stitching a better fit.

The interior choice is not for me, but he may have a point regarding the wheels with yellow?!

Yes i was slightly aggravated when he said that he was getting the TDC steering wheel not available to the rest of us choosing manual. But i can understand from Lotus given it is essentially a media car so they wouldn’t want to advertise it without. Still hurts but i get it “i wanted the TDC steering wheel like this one but it’s not available now” doesn’t sound great

To be fair, many of the Lotus staff were unaware of the restricted steering wheel options on manual cars when I was at the dealer event on Wed.  They were referring to the First Edition spec page on the website, which gives all the options.

So he may not have realised what he was specifying wasn’t available.

My spec would be very similar, yellow with black pack, and the ice grey interior. Although I would probably go with black wheels. 
 

Still not sure on the sports vs touring. My head says touring is probably the way but I suspect most cars will be spec’d with the sports anyway.

I’m in the same position as you, I would use the car as a weekend or road trip car so i specced touring for comfort and under the assumption i’m no expert and won’t know what i’m missing in terms of performance from the sport setup. But I don’t know if not getting sport is a mistake.

Gavan Kershaw has advised more than one person that touring is best for road trips and weekend drives. Sports is for smooth track tarmac and folks who will do a lot of track days. Gavan is the genius behind the ride and handling of the car, so I will likely go with his advice..

Yeah but people don’t always buy what is best for them. They buy what they think they want. Look at the GR Yaris, most of them are being daily driven and would want the convenience pack for the heated seats, satnav, softer suspension, parking sensors etc. but you will struggle to find a non circuit pack car, and you limit the market on resale because 90% of people think they want the circuit pack. 
 

The Emira will be a road trip car for me, so touring would make the most sense.

It can be relative to an individual's idea of 'comfort'. I consider Elise S1 to be a good long distance companion, others may think 100 miles is quite enough. 

Heated seats do not warm my cockles.

Yes, it really all comes down to how much ride comfort you are prepared to trade for extra handling sharpness. My last toy car was a Caterham which had the ride quality of a trolley jack, so an Emira, even on sports suspension, will be like a limo in comparison 🙂 . I am also lucky enough to live in a rural area where the roads surfaces are reasonable. If I lived in a city or was going to use the car as a daily driver I would definitely go for the touring suspension.

Conversely I was told Sports with Goodyear works well.

To me , that is the middle ground.

Not sure I have it in me to not tick SPORTS suspension on any sports car if given the option.

Ultimately, I believe I will want to 'feel' more than Touring offers.

I think I'll be going for Touring, as much as I like 'sporty' suspension on every I've owned with driving modes the suspension stays on comfort even when everything else is turned up to 11. I guess Sports & Goodyears will be firm, but with a better tyre in the wet, not really sure.

I think the Touring will still have plenty of feel, it'll have the Lotus DNA.

Several years ago I did a back to back test drive of an S2 Exige on Sports suspension and an S2 Elise on a Touring setup, including in and around the Surrey Hills between B&C and my house.  On several of the poor surfaces, off-cambers and abrupt changes of gradient the Exige would lose traction when I was pushing on.  The Elise was much more sure-footed on those surfaces and therefore subjectively quicker point to point.

Acknowledging that the Exige/Elise differences are probably greater than Emira Touring/Sport, I recounted this to Scott at the dealer event.  He knows the roads I used for that test and has driven both Emira setups.  He agreed Touring would be a better bet for my mix of driving, reinforcing what Gav advised me at Goodwood.  Sport will have some compromises on the road, even with the Eagles.  Of course do choose Sport if it's your preference but don't fall into the trap of it necessarily being an "upgrade" compared to Touring.

Does anyone know if it just different spring rates and damper ratings, or are there changes to the wishbone bushes / ARB bushes etc. It would be good to know in percentage terms how much stiffer the Sports is to touring. I'm swaying more to touring currently.
