Emira deposits and build slots

I have space on the side of the garage that the door is so I can get it in with the mirrors in and reverse out carefully but not ideal.  I did this with my Toyota Sera and it built up some much dust I wondered the bloody point was really.

My car choices over the last year have been terrible, sold my GTI TCR in Nov and they’re selling now for what I paid new, cancelled a circuit pack GR Yaris 3 days before arrival at dealers because of not being able to sit in / drive due to lockdown and someone crashing the demo. So bought a 987 cayman 2.9 to tide me over as Mk2 Gti and Corrado VR6 don’t have aircon 

If an Emira happens, it won’t be fully loaded, I like silver wheels, don’t care about calliper colour or lane departure. Aircon, apple car play and maybe a colour will do me!

Because one of our friends had something very similar done a few years ago. As mentioned above with the materials costing what they do at the minute, it's absolutely crazy.

 

Also where you are in the country makes a big difference. Central London probably 200k lol

Please excuse my naivety in relation to ordering an Emira, but seeing as my deposit was placed after the dealer’s first year allocation was taken, are we still likely to be asked to place a firm order in September with a bigger chunk to pay or will the orders be staggered? Seems a long time to wait if asking people to firm up and place a bigger deposit for something you might not see until 2023….

I think it won't be September.  For those who placed deposits early I'm not expecting to have to confirm a finalised spec until Feb/Mar for Apr/May delivery.  But Lotus may want some early indication on whether you intend to go ahead with an order after you know specs/pricing and if you are likely to go for V6 or i4 and First Edition or own spec.  For people with slots going into 2023 I don't think they'll need a further commitment until you get to say 10-12 weeks before target delivery date.

I'll beat Ramjet to it and ask you to head over to the Introductions area and tell us about yourself.  This is the #1 place for Emira news and chat.

I agree with Tom above.  It should be chronologically governed. If it does suit you to get one earlier then keep an eye on out here for those changing their minds and relinquishing their early deposit for whatever reason. Not sure how that actually works but worth a try taking one over.

Also, great choice!!  This is going to be a VERY special car and you might hear some negative stuff about power and weight on here, and lack of options, but my god, this is the start of a magnificent journey.

So yes, Ade beat me, but unless he knows something that we don't, are you a Tom?  My guess is that you sound more like a Garreth? Do you have any idea of what you want to get? V6, I4? Colour?

Good spot Ramjet, I’m certainly more a Garreth than a Tom, although I’m extremely happy to be called Tom, his knowledge and insight is fantastic. His thoughts on how the next stage of when we might be invited to firm up orders is great news, time to save even more pennies.

As for the car itself, I know for certain it’s Nimbus grey with black pack, but for the engine I’m reading so many pros and cons, I genuinely can’t decide. I’d love the sound of a V6 but I will drive the car regularly so the idea of a DCT box is really appealing. Either way, deciding which Emira to buy is a good problem to have !!

Nimbus is rarely discussed. Very modern colour and certainly in favour these last few years. I reckon it will look great with the black pack, or at least the black wheels.

If the Emira is to be YOUR only car (forget the missus) then the i4 might well be the right choice for you. It will still sound decent.

Based on this comment I'm assuming you believe Nimbus grey is similar to Audi Nardo grey? When it's actually a metallic colour akin to Lotus Storm Titanium.

I did assume that. I saw a Nardo car yesterday. It is different of course. I certainly cannot tell it is metallic from the configurator. The colour has really grown on me and looks amazing with the black pack. Really, the only colour I would not get is the Shadow Grey.
