Gold FFM Evotion Posted July 7, 2021 Gold FFM Report Share Posted July 7, 2021 Well, they said they are out 3 months later so the 4cyl building logically starts in October/November. This will inevitably impact the rate of V6 cars built - unless there is a distinct cut-off of one to the other. This is where some guesswork comes into play. If one believes the 4cyl outsells the V6 by 2 to 1, then we can guestmate that the total V6 builds over a whole year will number between 1250 and 1750. I strongly believe, globally, there are already 1500 soft deposits (might be 500 in the UK alnoe!). Allowing for drop outs, but then factoring in NEW orders in the next few months then I stand by my comment that people should get their deposit in ASAP. If fhey are not in the first batch being made in the next 3 to 4 months then their wait will be longer than otherwise. Just thinking ahead. I was considering delaying and waiting for the 2nd gen spec with more power/upgrades, etc, but nah.. will go ahead as planned. don't think I have anything to lose. The car looks amazing and will do well. 2 Quote If it has an engine, I am there to thrash it. My Emira Videos | Into Motorcycles? brightoncorgi
Maybe there will be some improvements or efficiencies to manufacture by the time the I4's start? worldwidewebs
I placed my dealer deposit a month or so back. I got an email this morning saying to place the order on the Lotus website and then give the reference code that you get to the dealer - they would then ensure that the factory order is matched to the dealer queue. The dealer will refund my dealer deposit. I'm 5th on the list at Oakmere. Apparently, launch cars are V6 and the i4 will come out 3 months later. Specs locked around autumn and cars starting to come through from April. If you want to drive one before ordering, you would probably not get one until end of 2022 (or later). I'm going for V6 manual. I think... 1

Graham Ridgway
Had an email from Jamie at B&C today about getting a build slot reserved which I have just done and had an email back from Lotus. Like the look of the car a lot even if I did post negative comments on the launch event! Hopefully it'll convince me that it is better than my Evora sport 410!
hml_xy
Wonder how they will handle allocations in other countries. Interest raised months ago at my dealer, signed "pre order" form this morning to reserve build slot for delivery around spring 2022. Dealers here don't actually collect money upfront in Germany it seems, but take good old signed pieces of paper instead. Let's hope that this won't impact my place in the queue 😌
JCR
I have paid my £2000 to Lotus Cars but have been assured by B&C that because I had paid £500 few months back they had already submitted customer deposit holders to Lotus order lists last week. I'm a little lost as to what one I'm going to go for though I wanted Manual but then I'm not sure.. Lack of info is frustrating what power (true figure's not mixed info from various youtubers!) what the Emira comes with as standard and what options we have and at what cost... many questions. Having another wait (September for full pricing and Specs) another horrible wait!. Looks nice though.
Gold FFM Evotion Posted July 8, 2021 Gold FFM Report Share Posted July 8, 2021 I am also undecided. I have accepted the power output and jus need more info on the launch spec and options. JCR
I was happy to wait for a proper viewing/drive but thought we would know pricing/specs after the launch!. I'm not moaning haha I'm just eager to get more info to chomp over and not wait another 1/2 months 🙄
Woodman
It’s interesting that there seems a lot of love for the I4. I think its because of the AMG association. If lotus had said the last car would be a £70k 4 pot turbo before then I suspect the reaction may have been negative. The damage the 4 pot turbo engine has done to the Cayman/boxster in Europe is significant. Also - a turbo…. With low pressure supercharger set up on the Elise feels naturally aspirated whereas I have yet to drive a turbo like that. Lag is minimal nowadays, but it is there and there is always that slight elastic feeling in delivery. I have no doubt Lotus have something up their sleeve for this. I have a pretty early order and whilst for everyday I could be tempted by the DCT I4, as a final analogue second car V6 should have a bit more spectacle and I love a manual. Interesting to see how many on here would go for each one. As I understand it Lotus are being very fair with orders based on date of order - Jenson excepted😂. Will be good to see it in the flesh at Goodwood but I suspect apart from tracking order numbers we may have to wait some time for driving reviews. 32 minutes ago, JCR said: I have paid my £2000 to Lotus Cars but have been assured by B&C that because I had paid £500 few months back they had already submitted customer deposit holders to Lotus order lists last week. JCR
I'm completely in the same mind set regards to Manual vs DCT. The V6 is going to feel 'meaty' due to It's displacement and noise, I much prefer to row my own gears. I've owned many cars and always got frustrated with the DCT's/auto flappy paddle and ending up in 'auto' mode most of the time. E90 M3/ B8 RS4 / C63 / Golf GTI being some of them that I sold on fairly quickly. I owned my Lotus Exige's / VX's and Clio sports, 996 Porsches a lot lot longer and miss ALL of them tbh! Oh to be rich have a crystal ball and a very large unit to store them all! 😃 I will await a drive before I make judgment on the EMIRA/DCT. What has made me more accepting of the 2.0T vs 3.5 V6 is I think because my GR Yaris (a keeper for sure) that I've owned for 5 months is pretty amazing and hugely fast for 270bhp 1.6 3cyl turbo 1250kg in weight It revs out like N/A but has got the slingshot feeling like Turbo cars do, It just keeps revving so much fun but It's manual so It's in the gear I want when I want.. I imagine 360+bhp 1405kg will be huge fun too? Its just the Gearbox I'm scared of not the size or nature of the engine. I'll be honest as you probably thinking surely It's an easy decision then J go for the V6 manual and have best of both worlds noise you love engine that you loved in your 350 Sport and be happy with it.. It's also £15k+ more than the AMG DCT and the AMG unit could well be a better modern powertrain??.. I don't know haha. Going mad.
brightoncorgi
As much as I'd like to buy the manual, the wife just cannot drive a manual with any confidence. This limited how much we were able to take the Evora on road trips. I got stung again thinking a manual is the way to go when I bought a Vantage V8. Should I make the same decision again on the Emira? Quote If the car is not from the UK or Italy; it's not worth talking about.

Gold FFM Evotion Posted July 8, 2021 Gold FFM Report Share Posted July 8, 2021 After this £2000 deposit per car, has anybody heard when the next payment for the car will actually be due? Any history on this? Is it a case of delivery or is there an interim firm order deposit, non-refundable at any point before this? Quote If it has an engine, I am there to thrash it. Gold FFM TomE Posted July 8, 2021 Gold FFM Report Share Posted July 8, 2021 We’ll have to confirm orders sometime in the autumn. Before then we’ll have info on specs, pricing, timing, finance etc. B&C will be organising sessions with a factory car at the dealership as part of that. I’d expect to then have to pay an extra non-refundable deposit when the factory order is placed.

duncx
From the Lotus payment page.... Order Window means a period of time during which you will be invited to place an order for an Emira. We anticipate this to begin in September 2021 and end in March 2022. The stated dates for the Order Window are indicative only. We will use commercially reasonable efforts to allow you to place an order at the earliest opportunity whether this is before or after the dates anticipated in the Order Window. So I think.... Some time in the next couple of months we will get an invite from the dealer to come and have a look at the real thing, not expecting to be able to drive it though Some time closer to September we will have all the info regarding specs, costs, expected delivery times etc. At that time we will be invited to specify a car and place a firm order and we will have to pay more money (total guess, another £5K?). I would hope that we get an opportunity to drive a demo before our money becomes non-refundable but who knows? Full payment will only be due once your car is ready. Gold FFM TomE Posted July 8, 2021 Gold FFM Report Share Posted July 8, 2021 Apparently Lotus UK took 500+ deposits today before about 2pm. With the earlier deposits that’s most of the 2022 UK allocation reserved already.

Wake
I just got back from Goodwood and just placed my deposit! I’m thinking yellow with black pack, 4cyl most likely. Just need an interim car now for the next 12ish months. Gonna see if I can get a GR Yaris from somewhere!
