With the valve closed, it's nice and throaty without being overpowering - you can still have a conversation over it.

With the valve open, it's just insane - my dogs can hear me coming when I'm still over a mile away and even my good lady picks up on the sound a good minute or so before I arrive home.

They're going to get even more warning of my approach just shortly as a pair of 2bular manifolds are on their way to me as I type this, .

Oh Dave you will love them!  They totally transformed my NA. Woo hoo. Your car is a real cracker.

I came into this world screaming and covered in someone elses blood. I'll probably leave it in the same way.

Is the non valved the same as the valved when opened?

did you buy the set from eBay?

@Celica I should imagine that the non-valved would be pretty close to the valved with the valve closed, depending on the diameter of the 'box' and how much sound-deadening material is contained within. The valved with the valve open bypasses this and is effectively a straight-through set-up.

The manifolds are indeed the set from eBay - just got to sort out a cat to go between them and the backbox now.

I have my original "3rd cat" from my Evora Dave wrapped up in bubble wrap in the garage (it ain't lightweight that's for sure!). It came off when the car had done 15k miles so still quite new really.  If you want it, it's yours, but not sure if you will really need a "sports" cat as opposed to the standard one.

Nice setup for you.
so the valved when open would be louder than the non valved?

I'm not so sure on that now to be honest, having looked at the latest write-ups on the 2bular website. It looks like the valved with the valve closed is now producing about the same noise level as the standard box, and that the non-valved and the valved with valve open are at the same level. The emphasis seems to have shifted from the valve allowing you to make things louder (like in the good ol' days of a few years ago) to it now being there to quieten things down to keep the ASBO-issuing brigade happy.

For me, it's hard to remember anyway what it sounds like with the valve closed unless I view one of my old videos as the valve has been stuck in the open position for at least a couple of years.

After some of the things we've had to endure over the past 20+ years as a result of their thoughtlessness, they don't even enter the equation.

Hi David if you don't mind at some point would be interested in seeing your car with the tubular set up if you are just across in Bathgate (i am in Edinburgh) as i am tempted by this myself! current have the lotus sports exhaust and BOE CAI but more noise would be good :)

Cheers  Paul
