dodgy
My first car after passing my test ( actually, i brought it a week BEFORE ) was a 1600 sports mk2 Escort with high lift cams, twin side draft webbers and the suspension set so hard it bounced when driving, but didn't move a mm when 3 of us lay on the bonnet . Gold FFM Günter Posted August 17, 2007 Gold FFM Report Share Posted August 17, 2007 first was a rusty Opel Kadet E, with only 44kw engine and a 4 speed gearbox [maybee Vauxhal called it "Astra-E"] . The Engine was after all really nice, it runs with all kind of burnable fluids fom ordinary 91 oktane gasoline to some mixtures with diesel, paint thinner and alcohol... . secont was/[is !] a Esprit V8. What a thrill ! ajheath
My first car back in 1981 was my old mans Datsun 120Y, but the first actual car I bought, or should I say built was a Nova Kit Car in 1983. I kept this up until 97, but had other cars along the way. 1971 RMB Gentry... If anyone knows what that is? MG TF replica wasn't it?

ajheath
Awesome! My Mate Sam ended up buying the moulds and producing cars in the early 90's. I helped out when I could and ended up running the owners club. The demonstrator had a Porsche 911 2.2 engine and transaxle, with the IRS bolted on. Fantastic car I will see if I can dig out a piccy. OwenGT3
Hi, First car owned was a HB Viva, but it never got on the road. First car I insured in my name and on the road was a Triumph Dolomite 1850HL. Bought it very cheap and had to do it up and get it repainted. It was a nice car until two years later when I put it into a bridge after hitting black ice, the car was a right off! I did some years later buy a Dolomite Srint which was a quick car for the time. My favourite car before the Esprit was a Rover SDi 3500 SE. Did a lot of work on this car as well. It did get repainted in actual Lotus ICI paint, Lotus black! I made the whole car look like a Vitesse and fitted a TV and video in the car, we used to have loads of fun on road trips. Riddlemr2
My first car was an '89 Supra. The first car I actually purchased myself was this MR2...I actually sold this car to help pay for the Lotus. It sold it last year for over $13,000 even though it was a 1991. Let's just say it was a lot faster than my Esprit will ever be.

ramjet
I've never seen this topic before. I lived in Nhulunbuy in the NT of Australia, Cars were few and far between. I bought a 1966 Mazda 800, not running, and my dad and I rebuilt the engine. A friend sprayed it as a swap for me building an N gauge railway for his son from some Fleischmann stuff that I had. It never let me down, but it was ugly. I was the first secondary school student to own his own car. I was pretty much in this colour scheme but with standard white steel wheels. (shudder) I'll scan the photo of my real one sometime. comem47
I had one of these as my first car ('67 Impala 9 passenger wagon that was a hand me down when my dad got a new car). It had manual steering and a 2 speed powerglide transmission. Believe it or not I passed my driver's license first time out successfully making a 3 point turn in this beast without touching the curb!!! It also had a mattress for the rear with the seats folded down

atlasapl
A white 1.6 Renault Fuego. I remember doing 122 down the M180, which back in those days was an empty drag strip, no cars, no police, nothing. Everything shook, including me. Oh when you are 18 and insane.
