Gold FFM Gjk Posted October 12, 2021 Gold FFM Report Share Posted October 12, 2021 I was just wondering what other esprit drivers wore when they took their esprit’s out on the open road. I have size ten feet but have found Slazenger plimsoll’s rather good. Quote It’s only metal, it cannot win!
Rudi K
I find these do the job. Importantly they are not fazed by the inevitable consequences of driving through puddles!

Gold FFM Kevin Wheeler Posted October 12, 2021 Gold FFM Report Share Posted October 12, 2021 Just replaced my knackered driving Pumas with a new pair of driving Pumas. They are the only things I can get to the left of the clutch.
NG5
Lonsdale Camden trainers, only a few millimeters wider than your foot and cheap as chips. A brilliant driving shoe. They do a slip on version too. https://www.sportsdirect.com/lonsdale-camden-mens-trainers-110054#colcode=11005437
Gold FFM Gjk Posted October 15, 2021 Author Gold FFM Report Share Posted October 15, 2021 Are the Puma’s and Lonsdale’s comfortable when on a long drive? I mean 2 hours plus? Quote It’s only metal, it cannot win!
NG5
Never had an issue with the Lonsdale's wearing them all day long. Never tried the Pumas though.

Gold FFM Kevin Wheeler Posted October 16, 2021 Gold FFM Report Share Posted October 16, 2021 I wore the Pumas for most of my 2000 mile holiday. They are as comfortable as a pair of slippers.

Gold FFM Gjk Posted October 18, 2021 Author Gold FFM Report Share Posted October 18, 2021 How stiff are the soles in the Puma, Lonsdale and Adidas trainers? I found the Slazenger plimsoll was a bit soft while stuck in traffic having to use the clutch a lot. 1 Quote It’s only metal, it cannot win! Gold FFM Kevin Wheeler Posted October 18, 2021 Gold FFM Report Share Posted October 18, 2021 Pumas are quite soft. I suggest that you go to Sports Direct and try a pair!

As the rubber sole is flat and you're basically relying upon the insole for stiffness. I know, as a pair of Dunlop Greenflash were my footwear whilst Interrailing around Europe in 1983. Gold FFM Gjk Posted November 25, 2021 Author Gold FFM Report Share Posted November 25, 2021 Would a dedicated motorsport shoe e.g sparco or alpinestar have a stiffer sole? Or is a softer sole better for pedal “feel”? Quote It’s only metal, it cannot win!

Gold FFM jep Posted November 29, 2021 Gold FFM Report Share Posted November 29, 2021 @Gjk Puma........but Porsche Design. From the outlet store in Germany, reduced from 135Euro to 66Euro. Porsche trainers/pumps/sneakers seem to fit me well, I now have three different pairs, all heavily reduced of course. Speedcat Lux Sneaker is the 'JPS' one. JPS socks are Heel Tread. They do an amazing range of F1/car socks. Not cheap at near £10 a pair but they are fab and seem to last well. Hopefully see you in the Surrey hills one day.
