It's hard to argue with your choice.  It really looks fantastic, and is a properly compelling proposition - especially in the US, where the $ price is astonishing for what you are getting.  As @MJON said, don't be a stranger.   Look forward to hearing (and seeing) how you get on with the car when it arrives.

the Corvette is a little above the price range I am looking, but for £80-100K it would be well on my radar, and probably would if I were on a V6FE, just to compare the poverty spec 'vette

Are we pretending that all the choices mentioned are not straight line chasers and dick extensions - For the corners and driving experience on 4 wheels the choice is around the Seven end of the market

As long as you don't mind waiting - I rang the UK dealer yesterday and they told me that if you order now, delivery would be autumn 2023!

I think people are comparing sports cars that can be used as relatively reasonable, leather and alcantara cosseted every day drivers, not impractical aluminium lined coffins like a Seven or glorified scaffolding like an Atom.

It’s quite possible to have a decent driving experience these days without your teeth rattling or requiring spinal surgery !!

So actually that’s not why I’m actually buying the vette yes performance is nice but I don’t live on a track I fly for work and the Emira doesn’t  fit my luggage actually and and which was one of the reasons also I am tall I don’t fit to nice in the Emira they also don’t have a front lift which I needed the two trunks which was also a plus honestly cars must always fit in with your lifestyle if doesn’t you don’t keep them very long and V8 unfortunately are a dying breed even though they sound nice but I will stop by and post pictures

To be fair, the chances of him seeing an Emira in his rear view mirror will be pretty slim, whereas seeing another C8 in it will be a fairly regular occurrence.

The C8 is a monster though and it doesn't corner all that bad. I'd be surprised if the V6FE is quicker around the track, let alone anywhere else.

I just read up on the new V8 engine in the Z06 and from the stats it looks like a really great engine! 
 

The Americans don’t usually compete at the high end favouring big heavy and simple engines but this appears to be right up up there and packed full of good tech and engineering.  We’ll done Vette! 
 

Just wish Lotus could have done something similar before waving goodbye to the ICE but fully understand Lotus had very different constraints and requirements for their new cars. 
 

Not read any in-depth reviews on the C8 but I thought it went round corners we’ll enough? Combined with that engine I think it will put up a good fight.

This is an interesting point for me and I'll be intrigued to see the ongoing reception to the Emira off the back of it.

Competition (Caymans mainly) have quite a lot of boot space due to dual boots. The Evora could compensate somewhat because it had back seats. I know that there is some luggage space in the Emira behind the seats but it's not that much as space has been taken up for the AMG packaging I believe, certainly didn't look spacious back there at Goodwood.

I suspect a lot of people will want space for touring. I certainly wouldn't want less space than the Evora, it was fine for a couple of weeks away,  I suspect less space and I would start to struggle to take it on longer road trips.

I guess if you want a car that has a front storage space you end up with a car that has the profile of a Cayman / Boxster. Another car that just isn't pretty.
