Hammonds & Oakwoods Lotus

Hi all!

Calling all lotus owners who’s cars were originally supplied by Hammonds & Oakwoods in Kent back in the day….

My grandfather owned a successful lotus franchise, and as a family, we’d like to buy a handful of originally Hammonds supplied lotus back. I’m incredibly proud of my grandfathers motor trading heritage, and in particular the time he spent owning a lotus franchise.

As we look to re enter the trade, it would bring me an immense amount of please to own some of the cars that my grandfather supplied many moons ago. It doesn’t matter what car it is, be it an Elan, Esprit - any thing! But I’d love to hear from you, even if your not interested in selling, just knowing where some of our cars are now, and perhaps some phots would be amazing!

Hi Joe....according to Lotus`s own records my Lotus Elan plus 2S 130 was supplied to Hammonds & Kirkwoods in September 1971. Registration Number KLR 39K.

That should have been Hammonds & Oakwood Ltd.... of course !

Wherabouts in Beckenham was the garage? I lived there for quite a while (but not in the seventies!).

Hi Joe,

Although I've only had the car for a year or so now I'd be very reluctant to sell as I  absolutely love owning and driving it. The car looks great from ten yards or so, but shows the odd blemish and crazing on closer inspection. ....but if it were immaculate I'd be fearful of driving it..!

I would recommend you  post a similar message on "lotuselan.net" I'm sure you would get a good response as there have been comments about  Hammond's & Oakwood in previous posts.

Incidentally......do you have sales records relating to Hammond's & Oakwood going back to the seventies ?.... as I have the names of all previous owners of my Lotus from new. I'd love to see any more photos you have of the garage and Beckenham premises.
