Toqcars
Have a brand new exige. Love it. However, looks like a passenger seat occupancy sensor is bad. It just starts beeping... but when the seat is pushed a little it stops... but after few minutes it starts beeping again. This is why I think that its not a cable/connector issue, but a sensor issue. I would like to disable it. Any idea how to do it?
Gold FFM Paul_D Posted December 14, 2021 Gold FFM Report Share Posted December 14, 2021 (edited) Unless things have changed (or I'm getting confused), only the drivers side has a sensor for the seatbelt being done up. Because of that, it's not even got an occupancy sensor. Just a 'seat belt not done up' sensor. I'm 99.9% certain that when I took my seats out only one of them had wiring to it. Gold FFM Paul_D Posted December 14, 2021 Gold FFM Report Share Posted December 14, 2021 Just thought to look at my photos. You can see here the plug for the drivers, but nothing for the passenger.
Toqcars
Interesting. Thanks for the photos. However, driver's seat is on the left side of the car for me Waiting for the Schroth... will remove the seats than and check cabling. I guess there must be a sensor in the passenger seat, because when it works (no beeping) and I put a wallet or a phone on a seat, it starts beeping. Gold FFM Paul_D Posted December 14, 2021 Gold FFM Report Share Posted December 14, 2021 Interesting. Maybe it's a legal requirement in other countries to have the passenger side working, but they didn't bother with the UK cars?
Toqcars
Could be, due to the airbag.
pete
cant you put the seat belt buckle in place Quote hindsight: the science that is never wrong
Toqcars
Correct, this is what was done for now, but I treat it as a temporary solution.

Kristof Thys
Disconnect the connector underneath the seat; the seatbelt warning will disappear, but the passenger airbag will still be active.
Toqcars
This is a perfect solution, if the airbag still works with the sensor disconnected. Thanks 🙂
Bibs
I would assume with the occupancy sensor disconnected, the passenger airbag will go off regardless if there's anyone in the seat or not if you're in an accident.
