ManxCarl
Hi All, I've inherited a 2004 Elise 111s which has only done 2700 miles. I was looking to ship the car from the UK out to Australia which is where I'm living but the hassle, cost and red tape of getting it into Oz and through all the tests is putting me off. So I'm looking for advice on the best places to look to sell on this sort of car in the UK. One added complication is the car is currently garaged in the Isle Of Man. Appreciate any pointers. Cheers Carl
chipp
Hi Carl, You could post in TLF Australia on here as i'm sure there are members who have imported before. If not their are some good indepenants who would be interested in assisting you with moving it on in the UK. I would recommend @Guy Munday as a possible initial point of enquiry. chipp
Greg | ValetPro
I sold my Evora through Lotus silverstone. Good value service I thought. Im sure you can get a transport company to move it. You could then buy one locally. Quote All the Best Greg
ManxCarl
Thanks for the replies. I'll try the Aussie forum and see what the response is like on there. It would be nice to be able to ship it out here but I'll try Lotus Silverstone and see what they say as well. Cheers Carl
PAR
Hi, i am in the process of importing my wife’s car to Australia and it is probably not advisable if you don’t fall in the exemption categories. You are supposed to have owned the car for 1 year and coming back to Australia permanently. On our case as we are only part time in Oz, I used the 25 year old+ exemption to be able to import it in. Theoretically, they have discretion to allow the import of your personal vehicle if you don’t exactly fit the criteria. Which means that you could file with the ROVER infrastructure system an application to bring your personal car to OZ and when they ask why they should grant it despite you not fitting the criteria then explain it was a family car that you inherited and that has special value to you. Worst case they decline and you would be losing the fee they charge. You would need picture of the car and the VIN plus other documentation of ownership. if they agree it shouldn’t be too difficult to have a shipper pick up the car and send it to Oz. Otherwise, there are many classic car specialists looking for stocks so you won’t struggle too much to find one to take care of it. Most will try to buy it from you rather than sell it for you as they would rather take the risk and try to make more money by taking the risk in this market. Whatever the outcome, wishing you the best.
