landsteam
Will the Emira have wind buffering with the windows down? Does the other Lotus cars have that problem?
Gold FFM C8RKH Posted December 29, 2021 Gold FFM Report Share Posted December 29, 2021 Erm, well, with the windows down the wind will rush in at speed. I always drive my Evora with the windows open and have never had an issue. Quote Alcohol. Sex. Tobacco. Drugs. Chocolate. Meh! NOTHING in this world is as addictive as an Evora +0. mg4lotus
I sometimes have the windows open and sometimes have them closed. It's normal to what you would expect. Are you referring to a resonance type sound? On a previous saloon car, when the kids had their back windows open, it caused a wind resonance sound in the cabin that was slightly painful. Either closing the back windows or opening the front windows a touch would make the resonance go away. The Evora doesn't have this.

I had a 2012 MB C63 coupe with the windows open it was just terrible. I know my Emira is over a year away but just thinking about it and the car reviewers don't address concern. Gold FFM Barrykearley Posted December 29, 2021 Gold FFM Report Share Posted December 29, 2021 I’ve found wind to be a real problem in all the lotus I’ve ever owned. It’s worse the day after a curry or a kebab strangely. 1 1 Quote Only here once
philcool
No problems in the S2 Exige even at speed with either or both windows open Apart from the warm air that comes off the radiator

This is a C63 coupe thing...mine is absolutely terrible with the windows down. I very much doubt you'll have the same issue with an Emira.
simonb
I assume Lotus have now mastered a/c only driven old ones with ac fitted, which was a cost option that meant that when you pushed a button, a little light illuminated

Gold FFM jep Posted December 30, 2021 Gold FFM Report Share Posted December 30, 2021 On AC, no Lotus currently has climate control. Emira I suspect will have this - a must to ensure a new audience gets what it expects. I hardly use AC on any car but when I do need in Evora, it works well. Back on topic, Evora with windows open is fine. As is a 12c. Justin

tailslides
I find normally that buffeting is worse in larger cars with a rear compartment, some say the Porsche 981 and 991 are susceptible, I never experienced it in ours or any other sports car so I am lucky. In our saloon car it can be bloody awful though 😖 Edited December 30, 2021 by tailslides 👵
Eagle7
Considering how the airflow is designed for the air to move into the rear side intakes, it will be interesting to see (and hear) how the car sounds with the windows down. You may be able to hear intake noise from the back, which would enhance driving the car in a brisk manner. 😃
Gold FFM Evotion Posted January 2 Gold FFM Report Share Posted January 2 ?? What ?? All we will hear is the roar of the V6 and the passenger screaming. Snorkel
Also read a few complaints about wind noise with open windows for the Porsche Cayman. Seems there's some solution with little click on thingies on the side mirrors that cause a different wind flow, but no idea if this works or not. My BMW E89 Z4 has absolutely no issue at all. Twee windows down, four down... doesn't make a difference.
Bibs
My Kia will only automatically open the sunroof 75% if the windows are closed to stop the noise, it opens all the way if a window is open. That said, there's more than likely zero chance of the Emira having this issue, those clever folks at Hethel may have tested it for this problem so I'm amazed we're even having this discussion. It's akin to asking the max towing weight, no-one is going to be towing their caravan with one (Top Gear aside!). Spinney
Certainly no such issue with buffeting in the Evora, so I’d not expect Emira to be any different. I often drive with the window open if I’m on my own in the car, so I can hear the exhaust better! The wife complains of draughts so can’t do it on the rare occasions she’s in the car with me. Graham Ridgway
Good point! Interestingly for me it didn't sound like that at all in the car, I would have described it as a howl, not a roar!
