AaronQ
Hello all, looking forward to joining the Lotus scene and learning more about the technical parts of these machines. I am coming from 30 years of being in the air cooled VW scene. In the time I owned multiple Bugs and Buses with 2 of them being ones that where saved from the junkyard and moved on to new life with new owners. My favorite was a 1971 Bus Westfalia that I bought back in 1992 and just recently sold, we had many fun camping trips in that thing and I even lived in it for 4 months once... I am not new to Lotus as my Dad was a huge fan of Lotus and has owned a good number of them over the years. I do not recall a time while growing up when there was not at least one Lotus in the garage being worked on. I am on the look out for an Elan (or Europa as I still have a photo somewhere of me standing out of the windshield of my Dads '69 Europa just before he painted it back in the mid to late '70s and I always loved that car).
Bibs
Welcome Aaron and good luck with your search! Sounds like you'll be handy enough with the spanners for a car of that era, have fun when you find one 1 Quote 88 Esprit NA, 89 Esprit Turbo SE, Evora, Evora S, Evora IPS, Evora S IPS, Evora S IPS SR, Evora 400, Elise S1, Elise S1 111s, Evora GT410 Sport Evora NA For forum issues, please contact the Moderators. Gold FFM TomE Posted January 31, 2022 Gold FFM Report Share Posted January 31, 2022 Welcome. I've been lucky to be at track days with some of the older Lotus models - me in more recent machinery. Great to see well-cared for Elans, Europas and Elites being driven enthusiastically. Good luck with the search. My teenage daughter is a VW Bus fan and has been pestering me to get one when she is old enough to drive. She has plans for us to drive one around Italy after she finishes college. The upcoming EV retro Camper/Buzz looks interesting too, but the originals will always win on character.

Elite 4.9
Welcome to the Lotus forums Aaron. Sounds like you have Lotus in your blood and that is a good thing IMHO. LOL Elans are a very cool model and I always wanted one from way back. A guy I knew raced one for many years and his was dialed in to the max. He beat a yellow 427 corvette on a regular basis out at Kent Pacific raceways in Kent, WA. Always good to see others from the US here. cheers, Richard
