I'm sad to say I would support nationalisation of Electric, water and Trains. Never thought I'd say it but it the thought of all those people struggling when these companies make massive Profits doesn't sit well.

I know the issues with Nationalisation, both economically and business wise but the whole thing now makes me uncomfortable to the point where its becoming an election issue for me.

So your happy for your taxes to go up a considerable amount to subsidise these industries and to buy them

I think a lot just wouldn't understand what a kWH is and how that has any relationship to what they pay.

at least kwh is on their bill, whereas price cap is nowhere to be seen

Yesterday received my estimate from British Gas for Gas and Electricity 9.2k a year!! Seems reasonable as before all this nonsense started it was 2k a year. Just a mildly amusing 360%

A very well respected Financier, who I know through friends, has told me to hold on to cash.  And don't go out spending.

Have had similar advice from someone in the finance world. Batten down the hatches time.

I'd sit tight and put some money in Chase Bank 1.5% / Atom bank 1.8% and some in Premium Bonds 2%.

"I have a large amount of Cash, but am really confused what to do at present" - buy 'charlie'...  street price will go sky high when the bankers get their bonus ..😉

On a more serious note - Scottish Power has advised me of new prices..

Price of Night Units was 44.4% of Day Units, and will change to 24.9%.  Unit price of Night Rate actually FALLS! Currently available from 01:30 to 08:30 hrs BST but will be 00:30 to 07:30 GMT.

Already have delay functions on dishwasher and washing machine to run at night, I'd better find that plug-in time-switch I use for Xmas lights and put the  tumble dryer on it.

Will it happen? Unlikely, the cabinet know where their personal bread is buttered!

You mean the Shell CEO who is stepping down in January, with his bonuses in the bank so no longer cares what happens to Shell's Execs future bonuses?

What a twat eh, wonder why he never piped up when it was going to hit his pocket!

What have I missed.

I came into this world screaming and covered in someone elses blood. I'll probably leave it in the same way.

I took out an annual family travel insurance policy with Direct Line one year ago. They have now sent me details for auto renewal (which I didn’t ask for). Last year’s premium was £153.42, this year’s will be £245.95. No claims made, but a 60% increase. They must have given their staff a colossal pay rise to justify that!
