He said he is going to attend the G20 in Thailand didn't he?

Our news tonight said that Putin has said no to attending the Queen's funeral.

As far as I am concerned, he should not have even received an invite.

Political correctness be buggered. 😠

To be clear. He was NOT invited. Neither was the leader of North Korea, Belarus, or Myanmar. Figure out why...

I think it is fairly accurate - there's another website that tallies up the vehicles lost based upon photographic evidence, it's normally a few days behind the figures from here (can't remember where it is at the moment). The number for the troops is killed, doesn't take into account wounded

I don't know what would be standard losses for 6 months, but crikey that is still a lot of stuff.

The Movska may not be included as according to the Russians, it sank after being swamped whilst being towed in the photo that Bibs posted where the sea looked awfully calm compared to the tempest the Russians said they were towing the ship through.

By April - 2 months in, Russia had lost more troops than they did in the 10 years they were in Afghanistan (15000 killed, 35000 wounded)

It's a boat. It will be in the boat section. Remember this is from the Ukrainians, not the Russians and pretty sure they claimed the Moskva.

Unless they’ve listed as a boat, they’ve omitted a guided missile cruiser in that list.

See above.

Hopefully the foreign diplomat representing Russia will have a come to Jesus moment and defect while spilling the beans on Vlad's insanity.

There was meant to be a press conference yesterday where he was expected to change from Special Military Operation to war but it was cancelled/delayed and didn't happen. If he does declare war, there are very little facilities for training up the general population into an army and to be honest, even if he didn't he probably wouldn't have any guns for them!

I have seen that as well about the 300,000. Weren't the Wagner group meant to be recruiting convicts?

Putin has also threatened the nuclear bit again with a female Russian mouthpieces saying that is what needs to happen.

These people are just dangerous.

I wonder whether Putin is bluffing or whether he is serious. Maybe I am just incredibly naive.

@ramjet - yes they are completely deluded. Here's the Wager recruitment video

Apparently, they should have dropped the bomb on Monday and Britain is going to be converted into a Martian desert.

This must be after they are going to drop the bombs in the Atlantic to create a huge tidal wave that would just wipe out England & Wales, while leaving Scotland and the rest of Europe unharmed.

Couple of other things that have occurred as well

Russia's Kremlin-controlled lower house of parliament has approved legislation that toughens punishment for soldiers breaching their duties, in an apparent effort to boost discipline in the ranks.

The new law also offers a hint that Vladimir Putin is moving closer to a full mobilisation - with a declaration of war needed in order to conscript young men into the military (remember Moscow hasn't yet called this a war).

The amendments to Russia's Criminal Code, which were quickly endorsed by the State Duma, introduces severe punishments for failure to follow orders, desertion or surrendering to the enemy.

The bill needs to receive the upper house's approval and then be signed by President Putin to become law - steps that are considered to be formalities.

Under the new legislation, deserting a military unit during a period of mobilisation or martial law would be punishable by up to 10 years in prison, compared with five years under the current law.

Soldiers who voluntarily surrender to the enemy will also face a prison term of up to 10 years, and those convicted of looting could be handed 15 years.

Another amendment introduces a prison sentence of up to 10 years for those who refuse to go to combat or follow an officer's order.

The new legislation follows media reports that some Russian soldiers in Ukraine have refused to go into combat and tried to resign from service.

The wider context is that, amid a Ukrainian counter-offensive and a much depleted military, the Kremlin is indeed preparing to officially declare war on Ukraine, with conscription imposed.

Partial mobilisation of 300k more people into troops. I wonder how the population will react as their husbands and sons are forced into the army in a war they don't want?

Hopefully @Bibsthe reaction will result in mass demonstrations against Putin and the Kremlin but I’m not so sure since the blame for this war has been firmly placed upon the West in Putin’s address to the nation.
Trouble is I think he genuinely believes what he is saying🙄

Apparently flights out of Russia are filling up fast as people try to escape the mobilisation and country.

Google searches for 'how to leave Russia' spiked ahead of Putin speech

Data from Google Trends shows a spike in Russians searching for how to leave the country ahead of Vladimir Putin's speech.

The announcement was supposed to come yesterday, but was instead delayed until this morning.

Google queries on "how to leave Russia" peaked at 6pm Moscow time yesterday, when it was expected the Russian president would declare martial law and conscription.

Demand for flights to leave Russia has also soared, with prices of planes from Moscow increasing dramatically.

Apparently, they have now taken to issuing mobilisation orders to those arrested at protests. Seems like a strange tactic to put dissenters on the front line but potentially they will be put *in front* of the front line. Wouldn't surprise me at all.

With the whole Nuclear Weapon thing, I genuinely think he would use them if he has to.

He's insane, pure and simple and has surrounded himself with those either equally as insane or Greedy beyond caring.

I don't think he would use them against the UK/West however I do think a tactical nuke in Kyiv he wouldn't bat an eyelid about. And then what does the west do? No Ukrainian Govt left, would the West launch their own against Russia? I don't think so and neither does the Madman!
