Sad post on an  Elan m100 FB group this am. At least no one was hurt, but the car will not survive.

See Lotus bits are working on some new rear light solutions. Might be better in black?

Mass of yellow not helping, it certainly needs the black number plate surround and black finishing trim above the lights.

Just saw this on facebook...

This was a Motor Panels M100 show chassis made in 1989 for their own use, onto which Lotus added the screen frame and the clever wire-frame of the body shape to make it instantly recognisable. I wonder what happened to it. At one time Motor Panels quality control measurements seemed to show they were making one side of the chassis to higher accuracy than the other side. The explanation was that the Lotus drawings were all dimensioned from the chassis centre-line but there's nothing physical to measure from along that line. So Motor Panels had set up some measurement origin datum points that were to one side of the chassis.

009 in happier times.  The Best of British Car show in May this year, literally 2 weeks before disaster struck.  On the way to the Newlands Corner monthly meet, as it happens (hit by a young driver 🙄).  Good luck to the new owner in putting this unique Elan M100 back on the road and we've had conversations helping them with the history & stuff.
