JR
My penny in the pot: My N/A Stephens' starter motor conked out 2 years ago. Luckily at home. Ordered replacement from SJ Sportcars and had a classic car engineer come and remove the old one and replace the new one. His major comment was that it was a pretty easy task as all he had to remove to gain access was part of the airbox. Some older cars of other makes can - he told me - make much larger jobs in replacing starter motors...
sailorbob
Hopefully they have addressed the issues with a vent hole being on the upper side of the starter motor, see the 'Final Note' here: http://www.lotusespritworld.com/EGuides/EMaintenance/StarterMotor.html 1
jtanabodee
Thanks for the replies on this. I will order ASAP before I cannot start my car. It spins slowly every time. I thought it was battery weak but when I fully charge, the starter motor acting the same.
Gold FFM RobinB5 Posted March 1 Gold FFM Report Share Posted March 1 I bought the hi-torque starter motor from PNM and fitted it. Although not being very mechanically experienced, it went OK. Had to remove the boot floor to get enough access.
