Lotus Evora Launch Edition (Burnt Orange)

Recommended Posts

E6 ACL. I know that no. plate. It must have originally been Andrew Laing's 1st Evora. He flew down south, picked the Evora up at Hethel, got the boat to France, did the first 1000 miles over there, returned and had the car serviced back at HQ then drove back home to Edinburgh 👍

That looks like the one from Edinburgh that was on Autotrader for a few weeks at ~£27k the seller must not have had any luck and be in a rush to move it on, it will be intersting to see how much it goes for!

@SCMTBCOACH, beautiful car! (I'm also a burnt orange Evora owner!) Can you give me some info on how the racing harness is tethered please?  Was thinking a harness might usefully on track days and keep strapped in the seat a bit more.

hi you put half it on the rear seat belt anchor at the back (rear seats) it then has a quick release if you want to use the rear seats. it is great as you can run your factory 3 point as normal or use the harnesses. I use the harnesses all the time as i just prefer the feel of being locked in. they have the anti submarine patch on them as well. Pass an MOT fine and easy to install.

of course only work with the 2 + 2 as you need the rear seat belt mounting point.

not really in a rush but would be ideal if it went now, it it doesn't make reserve i will put it away for the winter and sell again in the spring.

people are put off by slightly higher miles but it has so much work done it drives better than lower mileage cars.

also not everybody wants bright orange lol!

Ahh so it just clips into the rear seat belt socket? Nice thats a neat trick!  Think I might end up copying you.

Mine is very similar to yours, high miles (~80K) but has has a lot of stuff fixed.  I put some feelers out for prices and got some low offers because of the high miles.  The fact that I had done many fixes and improvements did not seem to matter.

Sadly high miles kills the resale value - lotus perspective owners are just too wary of them.

It’s ridiculous - but that’s the market conditions. Higher miles simply has to be adjusted in the resale value

High miles can bring higher on-going costs. I bought mine in 2018, 50,000 miles, 2010 car. First year, 8000 miles, no problems and warranty sorted minor tech issues.

Since then, quite a lot of bills and all I would think mileage related more than age. Leaving aside the gearbox (early CR, which have known issues), radiator, clutch, discs, wishbone, side repeaters, bushes, boots.....now 77,000 miles.

Approximately £2k pa on average to maintain, excluding the gearbox which I would hope is a one-off.

Depreciation is perhaps £3k in the 5 years and I bought from a main dealer.

Still seems fab value to me and I've almost certainly had more costs than most are likely to suffer.

Yes the market does seem to be slightly depressed at the moment, I think its reasonable to think it will pick up in the spring when people look for a summer toy! - depending of couse what Truss gets up to in the next few months with the economy!

Collecting cars says the reserve has been reduced, it will be intersting to see where the market us at the moment- sonebody might get a bargain!

so scores on the doors at the end of the auction it made £23250 which was below my reserve but add on the fee that the buyer would have had to pay total price for them would have been £24645. obvious down side of collecting cars is the fee that they add on which effects what the seller makes also as they wont' bid so high

This all being said it gives me an indication of price so if anybody does want it for £24750 please give me a shout. I will even throw in the TLF outdoor car cover.

first come first served!

Ahh ffs…… Id have had it weeks ago 🤣

tell me about it! fecking tories bombed the market! you should have held out rather than buying that expensive one! doh!

In hignsite i did think it was worth more due to what they were going for previously so didn't want to sell cheap. I have put £5k into it over the two years i have had it and it really is a good car but i really could do with selling before winter otherwise i will SORN it and try again in the spring.

if anybody near leister wants it i am heading down that way to buy a new daily later this week! .........what are the chances! lol

With a heavy heart I have decided the time has come to sell my Burnt Orange NA Launch Edition Evora (2+2). This is an incredibly rare colour. I don’t know exact numbers but from what I can gather there were less than 10 launch editions this colour. The Particular car was one of the first two cars sold in the UK and was featured in press articles of it being collected from Hethel. You can tell it is an early  car as it has hand written notes from one engineer to another on the inside of the front bumper so it is real piece of usable lotus history.

I looked at a lot of cars before buying this one and even though it slighter higher miles it has a huge history of work done and has always been looking after by lotus main dealers or a lotus specialist. It has the all-important clutch replacement done as well as new dampers and brakes all around all within the last 5k miles. The S1 NA Evora’s really are very special cars with the softer dampers and smaller wheels making an incredibly subtle ride combined with sublime handling (less weight high up than the Evora S) and practicality of the 2+2 version. The one criticism of the original car with the power output and exhaust noise. I have added a BOE cold air intake and remap to the original sports exhaust and it really does make a massive difference, power is up approximately 25bhp but the mid range torque/ response is what you really notice. It genuinely does feel like a different car from stock and sounds amazing now also (a howl at the top end but quiet when cruising)

£25000

The car has covered 77953 miles.

HPI Clear

12 months MOT (no advisories)

FSH all lotus main dealer or specialist (see full details below)

It’s a Launch edition 2+2 so has the essential 4 seats (Charcoal Grey Leather Recaros) and all the desired packs (Tech, Premium and Sports)

The car has the rare “long box” which was only available on early cars. This has the same ratios 1-2nd as the later CR cars but longer final gears including a very long 6th gears which means it will cruise at under 2k revs at motorways speeds. Not only does this make it a quite relaxed cruiser it also means it will do 35-40mpg on a run (saving fuel of the fun bits of road!)

It has had a huge amount of work done my myself and the previous owner (over 8k in total) with the Clutch done at 72200miles (June 2019), new A/C compressor (June 2019) and A/C Condenser (March 2018), 4 x new OEM Bilsteins with New Eibach Springs (Nov 2019) and new OEM brake pads all round (Nov 2019) In 2021 it had a full new set of callipers, disks and pads, new handbrake cables, rear hubs bearings and sump pan. (see full details below)

Upgraded double DIN head unit (not amazing my todays standards but does the job!) reverse camera, satnav, CD, Radio Aux in.

I have installed a set of salbelt, clip in harnesses for fast road and the occasion track day. Since installing them I now use them on every drive as they really do connect you to the car and make the experience alto more fun. The 3 point harnesses still operate in the normal way. The harnesses are easily removable if you new owner does not want them installed in the car. I had the headlights refurbished, opened up and resealed so no water ingress and also added upgraded Osram night breaker Xenon bulbs so night driving is now a pleasure.

Bad points

The car is in very good condition in general with the pearl coat paint looking amazing in the sun (changes colours as you walk around it) It has a few age related marks and the front bumper would benefit from a respray due to stone chips (I have never bothered as it will just happen again) There is some curbing marks on one wheel but all the rest are in good condition. The car has just flown through its MOT (aircon recharged) but I have not had a chance to get it’s annual service done yet. I can get this done for the new owner or the cost can be taken off the price of the car. I drivers seat bolster is worn but I have ordered the correct die to refurbish this for the new owner.

This car looks gorgeous - seriously considering parting with two of my cars and having a more usable 'day to day' Lotus.

I can imagine the orange not being to everyone's taste but personally I think it suits the car - like it does a Miura :)

Thanks - I know it looks great but not a great time of year to sell an Elise or an XJS - but then it's not the best time of year to sell an Evora so maybe it all balances up :)

Short term 'folks sitting on their hands'. That car is a bargain and I'll stick my head above the parapet and say we'll look back in 8 months and say 'gosh....shoulda, coulda....'

If Putin falls, even more so. However, I don't have any inside info on that.
