coolant tank empty

Recommended Posts

Hello guys

today I was going to drive my 430 to work and decided to have a quick look at the engine by and noticed the coolant tank was empty (I'm referring to the small tank holding pink liquid in the left-hand side of the engine bay).

I could also see some traces of coolant in the engine. I'm afraid there must have been a leak or something. What kind of coolant should I buy ? Can anyone recommend one ?

Thanks in advance!

@barabba

As JamieF says, the tanks are a known weak point. See my latest posts in my thread here as this has just happened to me:

The official service notes give this information for coolant specification:

Antifreeze Type: Ethylene glycol with OAT corrosion inhibitors

Colour: Red

Approved product: Petronas Paraflu Up

Lotus approval reference: PE-00140

In reality, any coolant should be fine as long as it is the same type. You wouldn't want to risk mixing different types as in theory you could get a weird reaction.
