Ba55uma
I just spotted a small puddle near the radiator behind the front grill. All temps are normal and I am hoping it's the water runoff from the rain we had last night.. the only thing is it's been sunny all day today and it didn't seem to dry out. Any thoughts anyone? agentdr8
Best way to test is dab a tissue on it and give it a smell. Coolant has a very distinct sweetness to it.
EvoraBob
Is it still leaking ? check you header tank level, try poking it with a stick and taste it, if it sweet is radiator coolant and is your air-con working as it could be the condenser leaking.
Rambo
And anti freeze will be blue or green (glycol based) or pink (OAT based)
Ba55uma
Thanks all. I will have to test it tomorrow. Is there are chance at all for rain water to get there. The car is parked on a slope facing forward if that matters
agentdr8
Yes, rain water can find its way pretty much everywhere. And that particular spot doesn't have any direct drainage, so it will puddle until it evaporates, or rolls off during motion.
Gold FFM TdM Posted September 6, 2022 Gold FFM Report Share Posted September 6, 2022 If that's where I think it is and you are on the slope then the rain is probably going in the top vents near the 'frunk', through the radiators and then puddling in there. Go for a drive and it'll go away, I wouldn't worry too much about it TBH.
Gold FFM Alfa2Evora Posted September 12, 2022 Gold FFM Report Share Posted September 12, 2022 Mine lives outside and I find puddles of water in there all the time. In fact, there's a visible tidemark on the ducting as the seal against the metalwork at the rear is very tight and the water can't drain out. Given enough time with dry conditions, albeit an extremely rare event up here in t'north, it does eventually dissipate.
Ba55uma
I took it out for a spin this morning, all temps etc looked good, so I think it must be the rain water. And the water dried out, but since then it's been raining again 🤣
