S3 NA clutch hose routing?

Hi there, 

Quick question regarding the clutch hose routing on an S3 NA, I always understood these ran through the chassis on all esprits, however, when I set about replacing my brittle red hose with braided one, it turned out that my red clutch hose was routed inside a channel on the underside of the body and held up by "bendy clips"    it didnt seem especially secure for something so important, so thought I`d better check around whether this is where it`s meant to run?

I owned two S3s & two Stevens' & the red hose on all four ran through the chassis

I've seen replacement clutch hoses that have been routed OUTSIDE the chassis by DPOs.

Probably because the fittings were too difficult to fit through the chassis. 😡

On my 83 turbo it runs in the channel with the bendy clips precisely as Mark describes it. Changed the infamous red hose with a braided stainless hose long ago.

Just did this on my car about 8 months ago, and this is how mine was.

I changed the red hose on my '82 Turbo ,it is inside the chassis.
